They should be happy with their draw. Their #2 seed is 15th of 16 by RPI (only ahead of Louisiana). And if you're going to get an ACC team in your regional, GT is probably the easiest - the other options are Duke and Wake, who are great teams. But, like you say, hopefully we can turn it around...

They could've easily sent UNC-W to Chapel Hill or Raleigh, and Duke or Wake to Athens. Collectively, the SEC got a very nice draw, including UF making it in.

ACC has 5 hosts. All five got an SEC team as their 2 seed. SEC has 5 hosts. Their two seeds are from the Sun Belt (x2), CUSA, MVC, and CAA.

Turns out this is not a new problem. I went back and looked at our weekend series over the past 5 years. If you exclude the UGA series (who we play every year anyway), the average RPI of our weekend opponents is 213. We’re 5-8 against UGA during the same period. It’s making more sense to me...

If I were an impartial observer, I’d want the committee to give a team like Lamar or Charleston a chance over us. Do I think they’re better than us? Maybe, maybe not. Would I rather see a potential Cinderella like them compete instead of our predictable postseason whimper? Yeah.
