It may be that in our offense it really helps to have one guy working with the tackles and the other in the interior.
Our tackle play is greatly improved.
33 doesnt like Sewak and no amount of OL success will convince him otherwise.
Er, you can have it both ways:
Johnson has said several times we need in his own words "more 1-8 type" recruits. So clearly he acknowledges we need better players, and particularly more elite players.
As to rankings it has been shown that there is no difference between 2 & 3 star talent so...
Several players were kicked off the team or suspended for violating team rules during the off-season. Can't help but wonder if this has led to a more disciplined, all-in team.
Coming into the season we had 2/3 new starters at C-QB-BB. Usually that means we will struggle on offense some.
However Burden has way exceeded expectations. And then JT has distributed and taken care of the ball very well while also making plays when we need them.
Throw in some good...
Actually what I struggle to get my head around is how well he takes care of the ball for a young QB. If he can't do that we are not 7-2.
As Duke has shown this year it is the teams with the maturity and discipline to make the fewest mistakes that usually win a college football game.
IMO that...
What is cool is we have 2 ridiculously good AB recruits and two terrific WR recruits coming in. Plus a some solid BB recruits and OL. Looks like we are reloading boys!
Thought Johnson called one hell of a game. First we came out with a really good game plan. lt took UVA's D awhile to to adjustto the speedof our attack but they were not playing bad D even from the outset. But CPJ dialed up successful plays again and again to overcome third any longs.
In the...
Your second point is your stronger argument. It does seem that we should be better than our ranking. That I'll buy.
The first point I do not buy at all. Sure like any profession networking in coaching is important and who you know, liKe and are comfortable with has a bearing on who you hire...
What is odd is Roof inherited a miserable defense and it stank about the same in his first year under GOL. But for some reason GOL kept Roof and the next two years we had Ds ranking in 30s and 20s with Roof being nominated for Broyles asst coach of the year for the job he did.
Not only that...
Snoddy showed some good balance I thought and really kept his legs moving. I've always liked how he's looked running it. I guess with time at BB and such it's just taken awhile to get all the assignments down at AB. Sure looks good now.
Good point Boomer. Butker's mechanics are awesome and he isn't missing by much. He is way ahead of where Scott Blair was at comparable points in their careers.
And for those who have forgotten Blair became extremely consistent by 2009 and IIRC made 5 FGs in the ACC championship game vs Clemson...
Man thinking about it this morning. Kitchens was developing into solid DT, and Akins and Commisiong were promising young players. Robbins was at the very least a big mature body. JHD would be a definite upgrade.
This is like going on probation but just focused on the DL. Effects will last...
Perk is fan favorite. Highly regarded guy who had some injuries but didnt pack it in and now is an essential part of the perimeter attack....with or without the ball!
