  1. Defense regression

No. This is another in a series of simple answers to simple questions.
  2. Observation and Overreaction

When a team scores 49 points on you, you are incinerated by definition. That we were coming back on UCF - they were who I meant - doesn't mean they weren't beating our tails off for most of the game. They had dang near as many yards of total offense as Clemson did.
  3. Observation and Overreaction

What gets me about the season so far is that we are getting our heads handed to us by every good team we play. Not just beat; incinerated. That is very worrying indeed. It can't help team morale and it certainly doesn't help with the impression the program is trying to make. I'm not sure...
  4. BC by the numbers

I forgot to mention Hadley Wickam and Garrett Grolemund. 2017. R for Data Science. Sebastpol CA: O'Reilly Media. This is a great book! I'm not even half way through it, but it has been very helpful. Btw, Sebastpol is a very nice little town, right in the middle of the Russian River valley...
  5. BC by the numbers

In that case you might find JAMOVI useful (https://www.jamovi.org). This is based on a sub-set of R that is included in the distribution (Warning, Will Robinson! The app is pretty big). It's menu driven and very easy to use. I still use R a lot for my work, but JAMOVI is growing on me.
  6. BC by the numbers

Oooooo. Ggplot2, if I'm not mistaken. Nice looking graph. I love this package, btw.
  7. BC game opens with us a 4 point dog

Since it's up there and we haven't exactly torn up the pea patch this year, this seems about right. Oth, Tech can beat these people. We'll have to play a much better game then we did last Saturday, but it can be done. Given the way their season is going, they might even cooperate a bit.
  8. remaining wins....

"It's our job to score. It's their job to stop us." - Rick Leach, multiple times.
  9. remaining wins....

The correct statement is: "I'll have what the gentleman on the floor is having."
  10. Clemson Post-game Thread

I used to tell students in some of my courses about going to the Zesto on Peachtree (ah, the memories of those vanilla malts!) with my son to get dinner. Maynard Jackson, who was running for mayor at the time, came in and took his place in line behind us. He looked around the room and saw it was...
  11. Count The Cut Blocks

Yessss. Nobody calls defensive holding against DLs any more. (I mean, if you aren't calling holding against OLs unless they tackle their opponents, how can you call DLs for holding?) But there it is in the rules to this day. I used to get very upset about this, but there it is. And, yes...
  12. Clemson Post-game Thread

I wondered about that. Dabo and Paul (Dabo always called him that, btw) were good friends and there's no doubt he would have called off the dogs with Paul on the other sideline. My guess = he doesn't care one bit about hurting Collins's feelings and wanted to run up a big score against a team...
  13. Clemson Post-game Thread

Ok, that game was a disgrace. I expected to lose and they are (probably) the bet team in the country, but to lose by - gimme a minute - yes, 66 points to a conference rival? That's the worst home conference defeat in Tech history. The Good: You have GOT to be kidding. Oh, I forgot! We didn't...
  14. Count The Cut Blocks

Hey, it's ok if they learn, isn't it? I mean that's what they are supposed to be in college to do. Albeit at, shall we say, limited consistency at places like Ugag and UT. Seriously, I always thought - and said here a couple of times - all the bellyaching about cut blocking was just Italian...
  15. Game 5 ATL Chart

It is worth remembering that Mason was the #5 rusher in the ACC with last year's OL. So, yes, we are missing him and it would be real nice to have him back. Oh, and I believe I mentioned that he can block.
  16. Game 5 ATL Chart

I wish Mason was back, but, as was said above, no need to play him if he's still hurt. He wouldn't make a diff against the Tiggers and he'll (probably) be back. Oth, when he does get back, he starts. He brings things our others don't; it's as if you combined Smith's ability to run hard with...
  17. Jahaziel Lee in the Transfer Portal ??

I'll miss watching Lee play. He was a great fit for the spread option, though by all reports he was surprised to be moved to OL. I think if he hadn't been injured, he'd probably have been starting on DL for the second year. But there it is. I hope he gets the grad program he wants and that he...
  18. Dave Patenaude's Offense

I still remember the Citadel loss because of how poorly coached we looked. I've seen some very bad Tech losses in the past - believe it - but we never had a "juice box" on the sidelines (Thank God that's gone) or sloppy play for almost an entire game or open taunting of opponents or a variety of...
  19. remaining wins....

What is this confidence of which you speak? You did watch last year, right? And we are 2 - 2 this year. Not much ground for confidence we'll win yet. I have boundless confidence in the team's effort and competitive fire, however.
  20. remaining wins....

ND always struggles at home. And they almost always win too. I don't know why that is, but it seems to be Kelly's trademark.
