  1. Duke Game

Duke has lost four straight one possession games. This game isn’t a slam dunk.
  2. In this thread: I face facts about Ted Roof

The bottom 100 is an enormous group of teams.
  3. In this thread: I face facts about Ted Roof

Probably worth pointing out that Johnson is 4-1 against him on Saturdays and 0-5 against him on Thursdays/Monday. I’m not sure there’s a ton to read into that, because the games were all really close (except 2016), but it’s something to consider.
  4. In this thread: I face facts about Ted Roof

I am not a Roof fan, either, and I continue to struggle with him because the goofs are so bad (like not doing anything to stop the same play against Miami). But improvement is improvement, and I’m certainly open to the argument that devil you know is better than the one you don’t.
  5. Justin Fuente gave us that one!

I generally favor the moves he made early in the game, but getting stuffed on fourth and two inside our ten and going for two twice and not getting it either time were, shall we say, important. He gave up five points there. If I were a fan of theirs, I wouldn’t be upset because those...
  6. COFH Set for 12pm on ABC

Wear freakin’ turquoise for all I care. Just rip their ——ing hearts out.
  7. Passing game

Couple things. The only correct way to say that Marshall is struggling with something is to compare what someone else would do in his situation. Long throws are by definition less likely. Moreover, it’s important to consider the time and protection he has and the separation his receivers...
  8. Virginia Tech postgame discussion

Just saw it on YouTube. I think this is accurate.
  9. Virginia Tech postgame discussion

If I’m wrong, so be it, but I thought they called it on the tackle and the center (which seemed odd). It looked like the tackle fell down and the center drove the guy over him.
  10. Virginia Tech postgame discussion

Challenging to clean something up that didn’t happen.
  11. Passing game

I couldn’t care less about the completion percentage. When we landed our punches, they knocked them down. We averaged almost 18 yards an attempt. If we do that, it makes it tough to stop our offense. The interception was a disaster, though.
  12. Virginia Tech postgame discussion

On the contrary, we are at our best when completing two passes.
  13. Passing game

    You were saying?
  14. Virginia Tech Prediction Thread

I feel pretty good about this game. Go look at Virginia Tech’s schedule. It’s not materially different from ours. I think we’re going to win this one. 27-23, Jackets.
  15. Where is Everyone's Mindset Right Now?

This is the type of nonsense that makes me lose interest in this board. There are 65 major conference schools (including Notre Dame). We pay about 40th, so in the 3rd quartile. We have fans who don’t go to games, don’t contribute, and complain like they’re entitled to something. The...
  16. Expectations

This is precisely my opinion, too. I am willing to live with the six or seven win seasons, but you have to give me the boom years. Johnson has done that. 2014 was the second best season for us in 50 years. That doesn’t get easily forgotten by me.
  17. Expectations

Since 1960, we’ve had 11 seasons of nine wins or more. Also, since 1960, we’ve averaged 6.3 wins a season.
  18. Academic Standards

This thread is definitely going to include calm, well-reasoned posts. Excited to read them.
  19. Virginia postgame discussion

Roquan Smith is going to be a nightmare. His name will be called 15 times in the UGA game.
  20. Virginia postgame discussion

Generally, on a triple option play, the play side guard is responsible for the inside backer and the center gets the playside tackle if it’s a dive read. If it’s a pull read, the playside outside backer is the second unblocked man. Sometimes it’s a safety masquerading as a backer. But if it’s...
