Agreed. At least in basketball we have 4 and 5 star players visiting the program and giving us a look and occasionally signing with us. While the only 4 and 5 star players we get in football and ones that flamed out at other programs.

I don't believe so but I definitely could be wrong. Alum is a term many broadcasters/sportswriters use loosely to describe them as having attended that particular school. People who do so probably aren't actual alums of any school or they would know the difference.
