  1. Ok we are 3-3 so what concerns you the most ( any thing but the coaches)

Ah. The question is could Tech beat them. Pe4rsonally, I think most off theta's we have left are either toss-ups - UIVA, da U - or matches we should be down against. But we'll see directly.
  2. Ok we are 3-3 so what concerns you the most ( any thing but the coaches)

The teams remaining on our schedule. The rest of the year is not going to be any cakewalk.
  3. Jordan Williams

I noticed that and I share your concern. We seem to be getting more then our share of injuries on the lines this year. Hope the off week helps.
  4. What area needs to be improved the most

Hmmm … yet under a certain coach we all remember toss sweeps worked just fine. Largely because: 1. The WRs could all block or they weren't on the field. This is an easy fix and should be required of our WRs today. 2. The OLs were mobile enough. And they still are, imho. When Sims does QB sweeps...
  5. What area needs to be improved the most

Well … recall that Mason averaged 5.2 YPC with our 2019 OL, i.e. an OL put together with masking tape out of walk-ons and partially injured regulars. I don't think we have anyone who would make our OL problems more manageable at RB then he would. But the coaches seem to think that he's only...
  6. #GTvsDUKE Postgame

Branch Rickey put it better: "Luck is the residue of design." And, yes, it is. In order to have luck, you have to plan for it. Oth, chance is a factor in every plan. Especially when it involves a long throw at the very end of a game.
  7. #GTvsDUKE Postgame

Or, to put it short, we lucked out. You are right, Sims was trying to give Sanders "a chance to make a play". There's an element of chance in every football play, but it is greater when it is a throw like that. And chance came down on our side. I'm having a hard time seeing why there is so much...
  8. What area needs to be improved the most

None of the above. What needs improvement iOS our running game. I'm beginning to despair about this; the solutions are so obvious. And what might those be, you ask? 1. For the umpteenth time: RUN SIMS MORE. The young man can do wonders for our run production if the coaches. would let him do so...
  9. #GTvsDUKE Postgame

I'm sure the original Hail Mary was a called play; that's why there were so many BC WRs in the same place in the end zone. Doesn't change the luck involved in completing the pass one bit. See: I'm surprised that so many people here think having a bit of luck to win a game is in some way...
  10. #GTvsDUKE Postgame

Actually, the usual extracurricular activities went on as the two went down field. None of that is ever called these days, unless the WR gets tackled or grabbed. When the ball got there Sanders, to his credit, had fought clear, but if the DB had turned around, he'd have been able to bat the ball...
  11. #GTvsDUKE Postgame

And that, of course, was what I said in the first place. And I'd be real careful over the use of the word "good" about this year's outfit this early in the season. I still think we can win 6, btw.
  12. #GTvsDUKE Postgame

Ok, I can see this. However, Duke outplayed us for most of the game and we won on a Hail Mary. Yes, that was a "play when it mattered", but it was, let's face it, sheer unadulterated luck. My guess is that Sims didn't think the ball would be caught when he threw it. But it was and that's what...
  13. #GTvsDUKE Postgame

Just a brief word tonight. First, congratulations to the team on another win, however improbable. Second, we have now done something under Collins that we hadn't done before: we won a game where we played poorly and didn't deserve a win. But … you need to win a game like that occasionally in...
  14. Tech favored over Duke

I think the spread is about right, but I would have favored Puke because it is up there. UNC beat them badly, but otherwise they've done ok. I'd say the team records are about even Steven. Too close to call, imho.
  15. Recruiting or coaching

    Wake's record for the last 7 years: 2014 3 - 9 2015 3 - 9 2016 7 - 6 2017 8 - 5 2018 7 - 6 2019 8 - 5 2020 4 - 5 and so far they are undefeated this year. I hope Collins shows similar improvement, but I don't think he's on the same planet as Clawson as far as coaching goes. Coaching...
  16. LOS

That' one of th interpretations I wrote about. Saban can get about any coach he wants and is ok with them moving on. However, there is another take: he was glad to see Key go and didn't make an effort to keep him. I don't pretend to know which is correct. Our continuing lack of OL improvement...
  17. LOS

I don't know about Key being fired; I doubt he was. However … Saban didn't make a counter offer to keep him either. That could be interpreted two ways, at least, but I haven't been impressed with our OL play yet. Maybe with time, if Collins survives.
  18. Triple Option

They also hated playing Tech because - and many said it - we were the most physical team on the schedule. Why? No "grab and dance" blocking; Tech actually, you know, hit people. On every play. All over the field. I used to especially feel for the DBs; was <your favorite big Tech WR here> going...
  19. Opposing fan perspective

On 6: I don't think anybody has any idea what the team thinks of Collins. This is a common problem for football teams. What your coaches think of you is your ticket to the field. If they think you dislike them, they won't play you unless you are OJ or the equivalent. This is why many players...
  20. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

Or we could LET SIMS RUN MORE. On reason the inside game has problems - besides the OL, that is - is that we telegraph runs. The reason for that is that we don't let our QBs run enough on options or regular QB sweeps. Why this happened again after the great success we had against UNC is beyond...
