I generally agree with you, but in this case I have to disagree. I don’t think we HAD to have a 3O coach - only one who employed a lot of option concepts. Someone who ran a variant of Urban Meyers offense would have done much better.

Possibly, but I think he would have had a hard time beating out Tobias Oliver. Oliver didn't have as good of an arm, but, man, he was special with the ball in his hands.

That offense scared teams to the point where they would change their practice routines both before the season as well as within the season. Moreover, a LOT of teams even changed their OOC scheduling so they could get additional practice against the option.
