Could've been a lot worse. The defense gave up a lot of yards but didn't do too bad considering how long they head to be on the field. And they scored as many points as the offense did. If you told me before the game that ND would end the game with 31 points I'd think that's pretty good...
The Louisville win wasn't that long ago but definitely feels like it. This certainly is the business of "what have you done for me lately"? I understand why as well, getting deleted by Clemson and dominated by BC can wash away any good will pretty durn quickly. But a win against ND could gain...
But....SWATlien....how are we gonna know who the really TOUGH and MACHO fonts are around here unless they tell us about how much they've been yelled at and regale us of tales of their management career and try to equate that to being a head coach at a P5 program? HOW? It's important.
The 20 point spread makes sense (and maybe doesn't give GT enough credit) if you just look at the ND games against the 2 teams we beat, Louisville and FSU. It might give us too much credit if you focus on GT's most recent performances against Clem and BC.
One note about the ND vs Pitt game...
I just don't buy this premise that the coaches, including Collins, aren't focused on "winning now". These guys live and breathe football and most people going into that profession are pretty durn competitive. Do you think Thacker isn't focused on winning now? Do you think Coleman isn't...
Excellent point. Someone might need to remind a guy that's been coaching college ball for 24 years that winning games is important. Should be an easy fix then, short conversation. Then they can just start calling the "win the game" plays instead of the ones they are calling now.
Maybe my memory of the game is clouded by beer and wanting to push it out of mind but I don't remember us running a whole lot of hurry up. Am I mistaken? We are throwing more so that has reduced how much time gets chewed up when we throw back to back incompletes but I don't think this idea...
Yeah. It sucks to lose that badly and feel embarrassed by the final score.
BUT, as you said we are 2-3 at this point and I would've taken that ahead of the season. Overall we look better than last year and have already matched our conference wins from last year.
Sometimes games...
I can agree with most of this.
It also f'in sucked when it was 4th and 7 and Louisville went for it. That was straight up disrespect and you know what....it paid off for them.
**** that.
Before we talk about having a "black watch defense" then let's at least make them scared on a 4th and 7...
I will say I was impressed with the play from #6 tonight.
That's not to say there were'nt plays where he missed but in my ignorant responses to football I felt they were more positive than not when it came to #6.
Ho-leee-shnikies
Loved so much of what we did tonight. Jahmyr Gibbs is "that dude".
Sims did well but also has so much room to grow.....of course because he's a true freshman.
I was initially disappointed with the D early in the game. I felt when they went for it on 4th and 7 late in the...
