I was really impressed with both Days & Laskey popping big runs up the gut during the second half of the year. We have been missing that for 4 years now after Dwyer. No doubt in my mind that Dwyer is a better running back, both speed and power. Also, no question that this Oline is much better...
I gotta give give a whole bunch of love to the D line. I said most of the year that they were our weakness, but they look great from the 2nd quarter on. Wow, I still can't believe we pulled it out!
Techster, I totally agree. I could be wrong, but I don't think Gostis ever lined at DE but twisted with the DE to come from the outside. I thought he looked really good and is athletic enough to provide a pass rush while holding the edge on runs. We need to get creative on Defense for the 2nd...
Just a thought, but I would like to see Gostis line up at DE. I know we are short on DT's, but we need a game changer and I think he could be that. Gostis looks to be a really good athlete and let's be honest, he doesn't have the girth to play low. Why can't Gostis be a JJ Watt type player...
Game ball for offense should go to the defense for bailing them out. The Paul Davis INT for TD and the stop and blocked field goal after the fumble saved us. Roof definitely had a better game plan today, and the defense showed up.
I think CPJ should fire the offensive coordinator, because he...
Does anyone know why we were rotating OL so much? We drove the ball really well in the first half, but I noticed Marshall in for Burden; Devine in for Braun, and Joe in for Chamberlain during the 2nd half. Why mess with chemistry unless we have injuries?
We look a little slow across the Dline and we don't have anyone with a ton of power to push the OLine back. I have to say that I was impressed a little with Freeman. I hope he keeps improving this year. He has that look to be an upper level rusher.
I thought the oline looked much improved and JT looked in control and throws a really nice ball. As always, CPJ called plays based on what their D gave us. Abacks looked sharp and quick. As for the D, we are extremely weak at the safety spots. I've never been a fan of IJ. Way too soft IMO...
Hmmm.... A DC leaving an SEC school with unlimited recruiting capabilities to an ACC school with a short term success and a small local talent pool? Must be the money!
I actually noticed Akins while watching Jay Woods highlight film last year. I hate we lost Woods to Vandy, but I think Akins is the real deal and looked as good or better than Woods. It's great to hear everyone else feels the same.
These guys will be ready for our offense but not our size. They play GA Southern every year and actually played a close game last year. We win this without a doubt, but this is a great warm up for the defense. 66-13. CPJ will have the second team in all of the 4th qtr.
