    OC and DC replacement thoughts!!

If Mullen wants to come to Tech, we should absolutely bring him in. He was very successful running Urban Meyer’s offense and was pretty successful at Mississippi State as their head coach (Orange Bowl notwithstanding 😉). If we somehow managed to get him, Collins could basically just hand him the...

    Staff Changes

On offense, that’s pretty risky. The only offensive assistant we have who’s ever been an offensive coordinator oversaw the worst offense in FBS. The only guy we have who’s worthy of the opportunity is Tashard Choice, but it’s a risky move asking a guy who’s never called plays or been a...

    OC and DC replacement thoughts!!

If we’re not willing to open the wallet for a new OC, we should hire Whisenhunt. He’s not amazing, but I think he’s competent and experienced enough to be decent at our level. I think the whole defensive staff needs a shakeup. Burton and Popovich aren’t cutting it, and neither is Thacker. We...

Hypothetical poll: how long would it take Saban to win a championship here?

It depends on what the scenario is. If Saban were to just decide to come to Tech at this point in time and bring his staff with him, I think he absolutely could win a national championship at Tech. His reputation would allow him to succeed beyond the financial constraints at Tech. On the other...

    2021 ACC and Competition News

But when you think about it, explosiveness shouldn’t have a negative impact on consistency unless your QB is ignoring open short routes in favor of risky long throws. Maybe that’s happening a bit, but I think the biggest cause of our lack of consistency seems to be the OL. Of course, other...

OK, #BCvsGT Postgame. BC wins 41-30

It feels like we’re allergic to winning

    OC and DC replacement thoughts!!

I don’t think OC is the problem, but if we wanted to hire a guy who has had success in the past in that role, I’d very experienced, has been a head coach, would probably be willing to come to Tech, and is available right now, there’s Ken Whisenhunt. For DC, I honestly don’t know a lot of guys...

Bowl mafia gasping last few breaths

Bowl Games are great! I don’t care if both teams are absolutely terrible. I’m not going to turn down a chance to watch more football. At this point I’m not a big fan of the playoffs, or rather the attitude that every team not in the playoffs is irrelevant. I think Bobby Dodd would be a great...

    #VTvsGT Game Week Media

I’ve never played football, but it just seems to me that if we’re not confident yet in our ability to make tackles and stop the ball carrier on first contact, we should be shoring that up before we worry about trying to strip the ball out, considering that stripping the ball causes a fumble on...

    Coach Dave Patenaude

It can be frustrating, but it is pretty normal for a coach to talk up his opponents. I actually liked the press conference this week. Collins was positive, but he didn’t seem delusional. He made it clear that he was aware of the issues and that he’s working on them behind closed doors. He even...

    Non-player rumor from UF

Regardless of what you think about Collins as a coach, it would be a black eye for the program to have a head coach leave for a coordinator job at a different school. It would signal to any prospective head coach “Georgia Tech is such a toxic environment to coach in that it’s better to be a...

Kelley Named ACC Specialist of the Week

I’d just keep doing onside kicks until the percentage of drives without giving up a touchdown exceeds the percentage of onside kicks recovered. Heck, if the defense is going to be that bad, we may want to broaden our definition of 4-down territory. Why punt if our defense is going to give up a...

    No UVA ATL chart yet?

Chimedza being on the ATL chart hopefully means he’ll be back, and maybe we can mix in more 4-man fronts so our D-line can actually get some push.

Ok we are 3-3 so what concerns you the most ( any thing but the coaches)

The pass rush is underperforming, don’t get me wrong, but one of Duke’s touchdowns came on a play where a DB who shall remain nameless got beaten on a simple go-route despite having a good 10-yard cushion. The pass rush needs to be better, but we can’t be giving up easy scores like that in the...

    Coach Dave Patenaude

I think y’all really need to go back and watch plays from our last game again. Patenaude is more creative than y’all realize. I just watched us run a midline option that was blocked almost to perfection, and it went for a first down. And not all of our issues are play-calling. I just watched...

This is...and will be a weird year for college football

If the committee gives a huge middle finger to a P4 conference in such a public manner, it hurts the image of legitimacy that the playoffs need desperately in order to get the viewership they do. If it turns into an obviously rigged joke, viewers will start treating the playoffs like any other...

What area needs to be improved the most

It’s definitely concerning, but some of the young backups have gotten snaps. And I think we’ve definitely improved in pass blocking. The problem is that our run blocking has declined more than our pass blocking has improved.

What can our secondary do to improve?

I’m not zeroed in on any one cause, but I’ll answer. I think our front 6 is not getting enough pressure. For me to change my mind, I would need to see opposing QBs get flushed out of the pocket, hit as they throw, and/or sacked at a higher rate than what I’m currently seeing. Alternatively, if...

    1) Agree 2) Agree 3) Hard to say. Maybe sitting down would calm him. Or maybe he’d press even harder next time he’s in the game out of fear of being benched. 4) Interesting. I was usually not at the top of the class, but I generally tried to find a study partner even in classes with a curve...
