  1. BjS- am I wrong. He has never played .. Can u say player

    C. Campbell & Jalen Johnson looking good at S. Both big hitters. Plus Gray is a stud who can help the new guy. CB got Simmons and Kerr plus prospects. Need some folks to step up for nickel/dime and to provide depth. Concerning for sure. DE with Simmons graduating is plain scary. Need help big...
  2. GT Football Awards 2017 Season

Having Gray and Mitchell back made a big difference for our defense IMO. That's a lot of experience, communication, and getting others lined up that we missed against UVA.
  3. In this thread: I face facts about Ted Roof

I thought Owens was playing at DT? Regardless looks like a player!
  4. In this thread: I face facts about Ted Roof

I liked how Christian Campbell looked when he played. Although he made some mistakes he looks really competitive and he clearly likes to hit. He did some good things I thought, and I think he can be a good player back there. I also think Jalen Johnson is ready, so I'm not too worried at Safety...
  5. In this thread: I face facts about Ted Roof

Consider the following passage from Wikepedia on Roof: "After spending the first season coaching the Yellow Jackets linebackers, Roof was promoted to defensive coordinator. He was nominated for the 2000 Broyles Award, an annual honor given to the nation's top assistant coach, when his defense...
  6. GT (-6) vs. Duke

College Football is an amazingly emotional game, and the emotional set up for each game matters a great deal. As a player I have been on teams on both ends of the equation and experienced firsthand what I describe below. Duke just lost a game to Army and is mired in a disappointing season. IMO...
  7. GT (+2.5) vs. VT

The wet field games came against teams with better defenses than did the dry field games. Not saying the conditions didn't hurt us....just pointing out that other factors may be responsible for the numbers.
  8. Virginia postgame discussion

Said this in another thread, but I would have liked to have seen a screen or two vs UVA to take advantage of the rush. Sprint draw to Benson could be interesting as well.
  9. Where is Everyone's Mindset Right Now?

Also wanted to add that--like in 2015--defenses are lining up and attacking us.....putting 8 or 9 in the box and daring us to beat them with the pass. We aren't blocking well enough to loosen defenses up, so they'll keep doing this. I was suprised we ran no screens vs UVA....it was a play I...
  10. BjS- am I wrong. He has never played .. Can u say player

Interestingly, there isn't much difference in value between 3 and 4 star based on this article. The big difference is between 4 and 5 and 2 and 3. Yet team rankings are heavily influenced by 3 vs 4 star. Team rankings are also influenced by # of recruits you can take in a class (attrition is...
  11. Where is Everyone's Mindset Right Now?

Our offensive line started out razor thin and lost Marshall immediately in preseason. Since then we've had injuries to several starters and back ups that have limited time, and guys have had to play hurt. The drop in performance and bump up in competition (toughest remaining schedule in D-1)...
  12. Virginia postgame discussion

Was AJ Gray out this game? Saw a lot of Christian Campbell. He looks promising but inexperienced. Injuries are starting to pile up. Is Jordan still hutt? Didnt realize Will Bryan was limited. Lack of pass rush really hurt us on the deep throws. If you dont give a cushion someone's got to get...
  13. Wake Forest Postgame Discussion

On Marshall's last TD there was tremendous blocking, both by the OL and the skill guys. Searcy, Juene and Stewart all hustled downfield and made outstanding blocks to spring Taquon. Very nicely executed play by the offense.
  14. Wake Forest Postgame Discussion

    Juene with some monster blocks.
  15. Miami Postgame

Just rewatched. Like TN so many chances to win the game on both offense and defense. I didn't feel any one unit let the team down more than any other unit. The offense kept giving the ball right back to a ranked opponent on the road in the fourth quarter while trying to protect a lead. Not...
  16. Stansbury

I'd say we have been plenty relevant in the ACC. Only year we havent was 3-9. We compete hard, have been in the ACCCG twice and been to two orange bowls. In other years we have been competitive. Even in 3-9 we played hard.
  17. CPJ in One-Score Games

Having a good kicker belps win close games. Butker was good for 1 -2 wins on FGs alone
  18. Two stops in a row while it was 24-22.

    Yup, Butker is missed.
  19. Miami Postgame

This thread is an amazing example of the human tendency to ascribe causality to events which are completely random. Comments here are way worse than anything our team or coaches did on Saturday, IMO.
  20. This is worst case scenario for GT's chances vs Clemson

Dabo is a freakin terrific HEAD coach. They were supposed to take a step back when Chad Morris left. Instead they got better with two unknown co-OC's. Who's to say they dont just perpetuate Venables success when he leaves? X's and O's Dabo's not some mastermind or anything. A Head coach doesnt...
