Kelton Dawson looked huge and at one point I saw one of our players manhandle a USF OL and upon closer inspection it was #91 Dawson.
I also think our D was not gassed in 4th quarter like it typically has been. Rotating in all those players plus the conditioning seems to have helped.
2/2 on XPs, and the protection looked good on them, as well as the FG attempt. The FG kick itself was bad but it was also a pretty darn long kick, so maybe I didn't grade as harshly for the inaccuracy with power required to make the kick. But it's pretty subjective so I if you say C- I see how...
Defense:
(1) PASS RUSH - This is the biggest pass rush I can recall GT having in a game since Attaochu played. Granted USF is supposed to suck at protection, but for the past several years teams have had forever to throw the ball.
(2) RUN D - Really nice to see how well we stopped the run...
Or maybe we just aren't good enough at those things yet to execute them against an elite opponent? Arm strength is really important to execute that type of play. The ball needs to get there in a hurry.
Looking at Temple, they ran those kinds of quick pass plays quite a bit. There must be some...
CPJ's offense was really good at getting 1-2 yds when it had to have them.
That said, I recall PLENTY of times against top notch competition when we failed to to get those 1 or 2 yards under CPJ. It is entirely possible we could have lined up vs Clemson under center and been denied. Let's face...
I do understand.
TX has the master's Parker wants. Plus I believe Parker said he wanted the challenge of showing up in a new place and competing/proving himself all over again (not unlike going to a NFL team).
While selfishly I wish he stayed I think it's actually pretty cool what he's doing...
Never was a Texas fan until first Strong, then Herman. Am intrigued by what Herman did at Houston and thought he was a no-brainer hire for TX. Having Parker there just makes me more of a TX fan. Great school and City too.
Brauns = bad arses on the field and in the classroom. GT is a certain...
IMO the staff assembled is formidible from a credential perpective. OL coach from Bama. Collins himself coached at Bama, Miss St, & FL. Got Choice and Marco Coleman who know what it takes to get and stay in the NFL. Like the looks of Burton and the others as well. Consensus from commentators...
My very humble opinion is that if GT just can recruit a few more difference makers--particularly on the D-line--and coaching remains solid, we are going to win a lot of football games. We tend to do more with less, and our guys tend to be hard workers. They have to be.
Of course I will take a...
Interesting to look at the specific recruits. Seems like a lot of the far away guys didn't stick with the program for very long.
Johnson's strategy seemed to be hit GA hard and the adjacent states, then pull a few from private schools or whatever contacts one happens to have. I imagine the more...
The following IMO is germane to the tenor of this specific discussion, and the board in general:
IMO the dumbest posts right now are those calling out the "skeptics", "doubters", "CPJers", etc.
First, if you despise "the negative energy", why add to it and propagate it by making such posts...
I think Collins and Key are good hires. I am hoping we can jump into the top 20 to 40 range of recruiting. If so we will win plenty IMO.
Thing with Collins is he just is an effusive personality who makes things fun for kids and staff. In that way he is like Dabo.
One thing no one can dispute is both DCs struggled to generate pressure on the QB. I got so where I preferred third and short to third and long because you just knew a demoralizing first down play was coming. Didn't matter who the DC was.
Probably I'd roll with Woody over Roof in the hope that...
GT is a conservative place so some of Collins antics wont be popular with everyone. Both Collins and Stansbury have said this overtly. And we see it here already.
I do think it very likely Collins would be a blast to play for. And I also want to see what if anything he and T-Stan can do...
I dont think anyone is saying people/sales skills are bad. CGC has them in spades. I am both excited and also tempering expectations. I think Collins is an excellent hire and it will take some time.
Wow, shocked at the venom and negativity of Heisman1215 and Jackfan who are now on ignore. Really a buzzkill during a time that should be fun/exciting. WTF?
