I think we can all agree that our team did not play up to potential on Saturday. There were missed assignments and perhaps lack of effort (I can't judge). I really disagree with the notion that this was the best they could do because of their lack of talent.
We've seen it before, with our...
You didn't really respond to my point about depth. Yes, I agree that the Paul had to supplement an OL that was recruited for a different style of offense.
Also, we're talking about a game against the Citadel.
First of all, let me admit up-front that I don't claim to be perfect in following my own suggestions here. However--and some may disagree--this forum developed a real bad form over the last couple of years which I would encourage us to try and avoid.
I'm going to start with two suggestions. I...
Walk-on DT Sean Bedford and TE Austin Barrick were starters. Gardner and Claytor battled injuries.
My point was that we were really shallow behind the starters and our starters included a walkon and a light TE.
Tell me again about the OL Chan left us for 2008.
I agree we should talk about a D which allowed 2.7 ppd to an FCS team.
But, you're right, we have the sideline dancing back.
I haven't listened yet, but I would want him to say that he was wrong about that last timeout. I would want him to discuss what he did after the first and second unsportsmanlike penalties which would lead him to be surprised about a third. I would like him to tell us how many guys on the team...
1. I'm sympathetic to the "not so fast" response to the "platooning is always bad" chorus. I wonder if the "nobody else does it" argument might not just reflect a fear of being different.
2. I suspect that a lot of the go with TO and bench LJ arguments are not considering sufficiently what...
Last year, iirc, Tobias ran a lot of zone options. We still have the speed option in our playbook, iiuc. However, I don't think we run enough perimeter option stuff now. It allows the opposing D to crowd the box.
CPJ failed to field an even average D after 2008 (which was an Average D). That's why we didn't win more most years. Over the last couple of years we got bit by a less than expected QB, but we still managed to go 5-3 in conference, 2nd in the Coastal last year. Saying that his offense didn't...
Some who seem to know more than me seem to be saying what I'd do.
I think we should run a Zone-blocking based option scheme. So, you get the OL up into 2pt, start teaching the fundamentals of what you want to get to but then still take advantage of the skill guys you have as well as the...
I don't recall seeing very many roll-outs by the QB. When your OL struggles to make a pocket, you roll-out the QB. All of our QBs are athletic, maximize their opportunity to do well.
