  1. ACC Discussion 2022

Although it is early, ACC has 2nd most ranked teams of P5 conferences. FSU may be ranked too eventually. NCSU and PITT will have to clean some stuff up if they want to stay ranked.
  2. ACC Discussion 2022

IMO Clemson is overrated right now...probably somewhere 10-20 would be a good ranking. However they could easily be a top 5 team by the end of the year if they find their offensive groove. A little concerned about FSU game now. Their D-line looks like their strength and may overwhelm our OL...
  3. PFF Week 1 Grades

Well, Fusile is 6-6 315 so he ain't exactly small. As a PWO he technically WAS recruited (although link below makes it sound like HE recruited us, so maybe we just got lucky). His coach said many schools wanted to recruit him but he told them he had already chosen GT. Sounds like a bright...
  4. We would be a Top 25 team this year…

Good stuff Nuke. FSU could be pretty good this year. They can get after the opponent's QB and their QB is good at extending plays and making good things happen. But who knows as of yet how consistent the Noles can be.
  5. We would be a Top 25 team this year…

Thank you. I had searched for "final strength of schedule ranking". What you linked was 2021 college football FEI ratings, which would explain why I didn't find it when I searched. Per the FEI chart, the average team would have lost 6.32 games vs our schedule last year based on a very...
  6. We would be a Top 25 team this year…

Also note I pretty much said Collins has had his chances to buy himself time and didn't do it. A green OL and tough schedule may be predictive for outcome, but that doesn't mean Collins deserves to stay at GT. He has to impress us this year. I just don't see it happening. I do think with the...
  7. We would be a Top 25 team this year…

So far OUR opponents in 2022 are a combined 10-1, with #4 Clemson yet to play. VT was the lone loss after statistically dominating ODU but turning it over 5x and losing by a FG. Where is the link to the stat you cite from last year? I can't find anything to confirm it's true. Let's say for...
  8. We would be a Top 25 team this year…

Well, why does ESPN give us the 4th hardest SOS in the country then if our conferences sucks so bad? Very tough OOC schedule (#3 UGA, Ole Miss, on road vs UCF). n conference we play #4 Clemson, and ranked division rivals Miami (H) and @Pitt. On the road vs UNC, VT. UVA, Duke and WCU at home
  9. We would be a Top 25 team this year…

Well GT33, why does ESPN give us the 4th hardest SOS in the country then if our conference sucks so bad? We have very tough OOC schedule (at #3 UGA, #21 Ole Miss, at UCF (not ranked but getting votes)). In conference we play three more ranked teams....#4 Clemson, division rivals #16 Miami (H)...
  10. ACC Discussion 2022

As others said picture will clarify after a few games. A few observations: Pitt made enough plays to win, offense looks good. HC hangs hat on defense so I look for them to improve on that side of ball. Adventure in rivalry 1st game but they got it done. NCSU escapes with win after ECU outgains...
  11. We would be a Top 25 team this year…

Fact is on our offensive line not many of our guys have played AND they are young as unit. Jordan Williams is the only real proven starter returning. Gotta hope for emergence bigtime with young unproven OL...especially vs expected strength of schedule. OL is main reason IMO we are picked to...
  12. 2022 GT Roster Ranked 30th Nationally in 247 Talent Composite

When a ranking like this comes out folks dont look at why sucj a ranking may or may not paint an accurate picture. People simply point to the 24/7 talent ranking and say "we're 30th so if our team doesn't finish 30th our coaches have underperformed". But think about it a little deeper: 40% of...
  13. Pre-Season Projected Starters

Don't disagree....Dontae runs tough and with a lot of heart. I think Chip will find ways to get him the ball. I still think for games with a steady diet of between the tackle runs McDuffie is the guy who will stand up to the pounding. I don't think Dontae could maintain physical run after...
  14. Pre-Season Projected Starters

Best blocker? My guess is McDuffie due to size and experience. If Sims can be accurate and WR can win 1 on 1 I could see us max protect and have some success. Having a decent running game would help the play action game as well.
  15. I have a gut feeling.

Fate will rest on performance in the trenches on both sides. But still young without proven depth on both lines. No proven (or at least recently proven). playmakers on DL. Guys gotta emerge and emerge fast on both sides. Feel a little better on DL/front 7 than on OL...some promising young guys...
  16. My bold predictions for this year

Offense will live and die on a very unproven and young OL. Tough assignment with Clemson DL out of gate, and ESPN projects our schedule as 4th toughest in country. Will be tough sledding for OL. Can we stay healthy? OL is probably single biggest ? for team, which is not good and why GT is...
  17. Pre-Season Projected Starters

At RB I expect McDuffie to get the most snaps. Hall and Dontae will be 3rd down /mismatch/change of pace backs. Dontae has proven he is a formidable change of pace back. One or both of the tr-fr backs will get snaps IMO, as hard for RBs to stay healthy.
  18. Pre-Season Projected Starters

Long mentioned Billy Ward has improved at TE and said something to the effect that he needed to because he likes to at times play 2-3 guys. Said Peje Harris as done well. Still unproven at position, however seems like we have at least 4 serviceable options.
  19. Pre-Season Projected Starters

McCollum at slot has gotten buzz, and to some for Malik Rutherford.
  20. Pre-Season Projected Starters

Frosh I have heard good things about on D are DB Clayton Powell-Lee and IIRC DL Horace Lockett. Frosh on offense- WR whose name eludes me but someone else can fill in
