  1. VMI post game thread

Yesss. As I've said here before, Philo can make any throw, long, medium, or short, and he doesn't need all the time in the world to set his feet or release the ball. Watching him and Pyron next spring will be a coach's dream. We'll have to see how that works out.
  2. Game 4 #VMIvsGT Predictions

I think we'll score at least 28 points. Then it's up to the D. Hope they come through.
  3. Expectations

I'm with the fonts above. The OL didn't tear up the peapatch last Saturday, at least on runs. I think this was because the Orange picked our tendencies on O up; they were guessing our run strategy pretty well. The solution might be more self-scouting and getting Cooley back on the field...
  4. Syracuse Post Game

Me either. One thing = we held their rush on King better then they held Tech's on McCord. It was the run blocking that was the problem. They were predicting run downs pretty well and they really negated the screen passes. Tech has lived on getting Rutherford and Singleton out to the flanks in...
  5. Syracuse Post Game

Well, impressions and I will make them short. First, we lost by three points. That's 3 as in three points. Birr makes his field goal and we're tied in the last minute. Too bad Efrford didn't come up with that tipped ball. Ah, well. Second, I knew we'd have trouble with McCord. Everybody has...
  6. Syracuse Post Game

I agree. As I've said to tedium here Tech needs to schedule to win. Having Syracuse early was perhaps unavoidable and, after all, most predictions had them as a lower level ACC team. I knew they had McCord, however, and I knew they'd be hard out. As always, I would have scheduled easy teams to...
  7. 2024 non-GT games thread

Bingo. They lost most of their WR room from last year and those guys were pretty good. As I said earlier, their replacements have two problems: they can't get open and they can't catch if by chance they do. Makes it hard for a QB who needs to throw the ball downfield to thrive.
  8. FSU

Ok, points about FSU v BC: • BC gave them fits last year. Castellanos (why, oh, TFG, isn't he at Tech?) is one of the best QBs in the league, right up there with King and McCord. If they didn't expect a tough game then they are certifiable. And it looks like they are. • It is obvious now why...
  9. Positive press

    True too.
  10. FSU

He should be. I mean how many QB reads where you never run the ball can you do? On short yardage he should be running the ball every other play on 4 yards or else. He might just as well drop back each time.
  11. Positive press

Yessss. It had the look and Kirk would never, ever have said those things.
  12. Georgia State Post Game thread

Let's hope we never have to test the hypothesis. There's a reason why the number 3 player is where he is.
  13. Georgia State Post Game thread

Well … today's Sunday. Usually it's a 2:00 start for the wife and I under any circumstances. As to the pills: there are other meds, but you need to ask your doctor. And I'll take anything after 12 beers.
  14. Georgia State Post Game thread

Easy to do, isn't it? When you are calling holding, that is. I think this is because the rules on it are so open to ref discretion. Today, you sometimes find refs calling like they did last night. Then you find refs who call like they did in Dublin: it's a hold if you essentially tackle the guy...
  15. Georgia State Post Game thread

Well, ok. I see you expect me to remember what I promised at the start of the post. I'm 78, dude. Sometimes things slip.
  16. Georgia State Post Game thread

He's 230 and runs a legit 4.4 40. I'm glad he's getting his chances this year and I bet he'll become a weapon down field more as the season progresses.
  17. Georgia State Post Game thread

I haven't read the whole thread - life is short - so I'm sure I'll cover what some other fonts have already said. I'll keep it short. I'm sitting there with my son and he's lamenting how GSU was moving the ball on Tech. I looked over at him and said, "What's the score? They're doing ok between...
  18. Tech Recruiting in Georgia High School Football Daily Aug. 30, 2024

Yes on Graham. I've posted this before: This is Graham in his junior year. It is, without exception, the best highlight film I've ever seen of any QB anywhere. Watch and be amazed and drastically disappointed. If TFG had let Petenaude run his regular O - heavy on QB runs - instead of trying...
  19. GSU game thread

Yes. I'll take a one point win any day of the week. Good seasons are built on close wins. I definitely do not - repeat, not - take GSU lightly. They were a solid team last year and probably will be again.
  20. Analytics post mortem

    1) Well, yes it is. One reason to use modeling is that you don't have any idea what's going on in thebox; all you have is inputs and outputs crudely measured. The nice thing about models is that allows you to make predictions anyway. And … sure enough, sometimes those predictions are wrong. 2)...
