Following up on Stinger...If Tech comes to the B1G, then I'll be at Bobby Dodd for that 1st Tech-MN home game.
Also, might as well get some program bragging rights going in anticipation of the B1G event.
Minnesota has 7 National Titles going back to 1882. How fare thee Tech on Natties?
(BTW...
As to MusicBuzz's point on "redemption on the 2018 debacle" I think that would be great no matter how it unfolded. I sent a note to our AD to that effect prior to the 2020 season. I see benefits for Minnesota for sure. Our clubs have now at least have met on the field, Minnesota actually...
Thanks for the thought MB...
I'll be honest in that I don't spend much thought here because it's the money driving it. Last time the B1G expanded it added Rutgers and Maryland...which is starting to make sense...and most Gopher fans think Nebraska probably regrets joining the B1G. We've all...
Yes...also with Iowa and Michigan...but as the Badgers say...is it really a rivalry when they win most of the time? The answer is yes but mostly losing takes out some of the intensity.
Much like Tech, the glory days for Minnesota were in the early to mid 20th Century. In those days Minnesota...
Point taken. No more Red hordes to anybody's north, south, east, or west in my football vocabulary.
We have a red-colored fanbase to the east and yours is red-and-black. Much more appealing labeling actually...Thanks.
Our spring game is this weekend. Perusing what you guys saw for the...
No apology needed Heisman. Looked and was quite surprised:
Minnesota #19 Don’t sleep on a Gopher team that struggled last year. It gets back QB Tanner Morgan, RB Mohamed Ibrahim, and a defense that welcomes in a few high-end transfers.
Thanks for making me look. The Red Horde to the East...
Yes he was and is. He was teamed up with Tyler Johnson who's now with the Buccaneers (with his first Super Bowl Ring). Having both on the field for two seasons drove defenses crazy. Could not double-cover both.
Slant routes were his specialty but could make open field moves that were...
We feel the same about 'bout beating Mrs. Sheboygan's Badgers.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'm optimistic for you guys in year 3. There's obviously a lot of passion still here for the Wramblin Wreck that is great to see.
Hoping the Spring Game goes well and gives the opportunity for...
That was then true freshman "Big Dan" aka Daniel Faalele from Australia. Playing you guys was his best game of that season. He got hurt at the end of 2019 (against Mrs. Sheboygan's Badgers), sat out 2020 due to covid, but is coming back for 2021 (YAY!).
For completely different reasons (than...
Freshmen seeing the field is not bad if they beat everyone else for the playing time. The best should be on the field...period.
One of our Georgia gold nuggets was Rashod Bateman from Tifton. Decided to go to Minnesota over the Dawgs. Possibly a first round WR in a few weeks.
Saw the field...
Yes on staff changes "early on." Had to fire the D coordinator...who had followed Fleck from day 1 in his career...half-way through the season. The schemes were so complex that no one on D knew what to do, even kids who the prior years were pretty darn good. The Assistant Coordinator got the...
Thanks Burdell for the update.
Our big fan debate early on was whether the "cupboard was really bare" from the previous regime, which got entangled in the "need for a new culture" statements from the new regime. Actually was pretty bitter, which really showed up in the 2019 season (the...
Year 3 was a big jump for us. Couldn't get past Sheboygan's Vadgers but he has bragging rights when winning like forever with an interspersed Gophers win.
Maybe this can be a step up year for Tech. That would be my hope.
Glad to hear the improvement on talent...whether grabbing some of that Georgia and Southeast gold talent or the portal. That's been the slow but steady beat under Fleck, who is still getting some talent for us out of Georgia too (that started under the previous regime). Getting some hotshot...
Dropping by to see how the rebuild is going?
Like for many programs 2020 totally derailed the Gophers off their banner year in 2019.
This is the 5th year under Coach Fleck and we hope to leave 2020 behind and pick up where left off in 2019. Of course we open with tOSU at home...similar to if...
Mods...If this has already been posted please move or remove. This showed up today on a Gophers site and thought to bring it over. Good stuff at least to us. Minnesota played a high school in the early days of FB and it counts on the record books. Billd...
Agree this is an experiment. The rapid antigen is to be followed by the PCR test. I think both have to be a positive to count against a player.
Still, I'd think even a player who's put under restrictions or quarantine would still be tested. What if the next 4 days both come back...
Quick note that scuttle is that Big 10 will indeed commence play in October. No other details known. Announcement some time today.
I fully expect to continue to watch Tech when I can alongside my Golden Gophers...if this is true.
Obviously hoping this is not some Twitter mirage. I believe...
Congrats Tech on a great win. Wasn't pretty at times but really who thought it wouldn't have challenges before it was over.
Key is that Coach Collins has the kids playing hard and not giving up. Very important going forward.
Really liked the offense and the young QB. Defense did what needed...
