    Chances Tech reaches the pinnacle?

He engineered one of my favorite GT victories - a blowout of the highly-ranked Gamecocks in 1988. My family is mostly Gamecocks so it was a very enjoyable Saturday on the Flats!

    Chances Tech reaches the pinnacle?

I think it's easier today than it was in 1990. Back then we had to win a popularity contest with the AP and UPI voters. Today we just need to win games and it takes care of itself. The 2014 team was an ACC-CG victory away from being in the CFP. I voted 20%. Time to get rid of the defeatist...

    New regime goal posts

we haven't had either of those in a couple of years and were clearly trending downward. the people who were saying "Wait til next year" said that same thing at the end of last season.

    New regime goal posts

agreed. CPJ had 3 wins and let's be honest - could've/should've been at least 2 more (2009, 2013) and possibly 2 more than that! 2 more wins and CPJ is basically 50%. The mutts aren't unbeatable but the attitude towards playing them needs to change. Our fanbase seems to have really settled...

    Quick Lane Bowl Postgame Discussion

Agreed. CPJ usually had at least one trick play up his sleeve too in bowl games but it was just more of the same: TM left, TM right, B-back, punt. No passing, nothing tricky, just QB keeper after QB keeper. Personally, if I'm CPJ, I'm running at least one flea-flicker! Why the hell not?

    When the TO3 died

Not trying to be obstructionist - I think you are downplaying the talent that goes to the service academies and under-estimating the effect of intellect and discipline can have on a football team. Navy and most recently Army's records are proof that these guys aren't as bad as you are painting...

    I think that's a fair assessment.

    When the TO3 died

problem is though, we didn't look very efficient against the good teams on our schedule. Clemson, mutts, Duke, Pitt, UVA, and Minn really stuffed our offense for most of those games. Even Miami did a good job against us but committed some key TOs that gave us short fields that we took...

    “Branding” and “Marketing” ...

Not sure how we can do anything BUT improve in this particular area.

    When the TO3 died

I wonder if anything in our recent GT football history changes if TM pitches the ball to the A-back in OT against UT? Or were we destined for the 17-18 seasons as a result of our QB situation (i.e. no passing, lots of QB Keepers)?

    When the TO3 died

I disagree. Having a group of intelligent, disciplined, team-first, me-2nd players can be an advantage, at least over almost every single FCS school. The military academy recruits aren't exactly bad athletes. Plus, they all really, really, really want to be at West Point, Annapolis, or...

    When the TO3 died

It's maddening watching a RB and QB line up 7 yds behind the LOS when it's 3rd/4th and short. I remember watching Richt's mutts lose to USC a few years ago. Down inside the 2, they lined up Todd Gurley back at the 8-9 yd line for the short-yardage run. Predictably he got stuffed and the...

yep - he must find a QB though. It's bizarre how a place like Miami can't find a competent QB. That Rozier guy flat-out stinks.

Paul Johnson effect on Quick Lane Bowl Ratings

I think he could return to a service academy or perhaps a place like Southern. Given the success of Ken. N. and Monken the past few years that hasn't resulted in a P5 gig for either and given the way things ended here, I agree with you though.

How Good Was Coach Johnson at Tech?

We had some great games that will be legendary memories. We also had a few donkey stinkers. If there was one criticism that was a constant, it was that we looked totally unprepared in some big games at least once/year. Conversely, no CPJ-coached team in his tenure with us ever quit. Even...
