I hope you are right, though after 2015 I am a bit more sober than after '14. And from the activity on the board I am not alone. It's too bad but an enormous amount of impetus was lost at 3-9, and GT and Johnson are in effect starting over. I am just a one game guy any more, and Saturday and BC...
  2. Stephen Hill cut from Panthers

So you are saying that the "soft hands" great ball catchers have is not a physical gift? Or that 20+ pounds of weight and heft and superior speed are not physical gifts in excess of what Hill brought? Look, I was rooting for the kid every Saturday and died every time he muffed a bread-basket...
  3. Stephen Hill cut from Panthers

I like inflammable hyperbole as well as most. But even the best fiction at a minimum has some basis in fact.
  4. Stephen Hill cut from Panthers

Well, the good news is that at the moment Smelter is hanging in.
  5. Boston College

Anybody believing they started GT prep "tomorrow", I got a Buckhead building to sell you. Cheap.
  6. O'leary gettin a statue

The reporter misunderstood. They aren't talking about a statue. They said statute.
  7. Preparation for Boston college

Ah, maybe it's just the price of gas. But were it me and I thought I could get under an opponent's skin and make him think about something other than beating me, doggone right. I would ban car, cheerleaders, band, dean, several coaches and trainers, right up to the head ball coach.
  8. Clemson on upset alert vs GT

Dunno why they call it "Reports" as here is none of that. Just kind of internet blogger spouting off. Regardless, be assured that Clemson is very much on upset alert against GT, and has devoted defensive practice time to the game. I suspect that one reason Swinney and Johnson get on so well...
  9. Slouching toward Ireland ...

I'll be there. Is there enough parking?
  10. Slouching toward Ireland ...

Then we better win else you are gonna get two Irish potatoes for your next meal. Which, to think about it, is two more than the Irish had.
  11. Mills

There is that little matter of Waterloo, however.
  12. Slouching toward Ireland ...

You might want to take something for that raging optimism.
  13. Slouching toward Ireland ...

We're getting closer. I'm getting ready. But from home. In prep this weekend I watched a) OT against Georgia in '14; b) final half a dozen seconds against FSU in '15; c) first three drives against FSU in ACC championship game, and d) second half against MSU in Orange Bowl. As my old coach would...
  14. Mills

The only way that many guys play there would be because none of them play it well enough to win the job. Even getting beyond two -- see 2014 -- is problematic, and then only after a lot of experience. There are just too many moving parts in that position.
  15. Mills

My hat's off to anybody who can still talk about such things as "My uncle by marriage ...." My barber knows everybody, everybody, and can identify for them instantly, as in "that was your mama's third cousin on her daddy's side ...."
  16. Chris Griffin on medical scholarship now

This post cries out for the proper response. Something sly, cutting, suggestive. A hint of literary eloquence and grammatical command, reflective of a lifetime of reading the classics, probably in the original language. Something like, Are you serious?
  17. Chris Griffin on medical scholarship now

David Duval should never have won the British Open. After that his edge was gone forever.
  18. 'Cuse Loves GT

Apparently it is one of those intermittent things, like a windshield wiper. Every time I think those guys are overpaid, which is often, I read about those guys who know more about coaching than they do. And prove they don't.
  19. 'Cuse Loves GT

Interesting in his tables: worst in close games? GT, 1w,6L.
  20. Chris Griffin on medical scholarship now

One has to be a competitor at this level, and the sport doesn't matter. And besides, nobody ever believes it will happen to them.
