    He played safety with Dallas.
  2. Now That

I think they called it blocking back or such. But the three single wing names i remember reading about were Bobby Dodd, who played tailback but was called QB as Oldgold says, Johnny Majors from Tennessee, a terrific back, and a fellow named **** Kasmier from Princeton of all places. All three...
  3. Now That

Yes, finally somebody steps up for one of the best ever, and the closest to a Heisman, in an era when defense ruled and personal stats were not nearly as impressive as today. An excellent passer, excellent runner, fine punter who led the NFL a couple of years and if I remember right, was Tech's...
  4. Taxslayer Wrap-up

Though I still think he sets brushfires he doesn't have to with that defensive posturing on occasion (what he has to be defensive about baffles me; except of course those practice shorts) I like the attitude of "this is what we do, so stop us", and his faith in the offense to get a yard from...
  5. Stansbury Article

Well, okay. But you are aware, are you not, that Clemson is among the schools allowed a stipend now for players? And if he means "more than in his whole life," then I am here to tell you from experience that I once made 35 bucks a week as a municipal pool lifeguard, and that little bit was more...
  6. Defensive MVP...................

Well, you got me there. Is that what is called serendipity?
  7. Defensive MVP...................

Oh, I don't know about that. i think Stoops deserved the weed whacker treatment Tech gave him and Louisville deserved the righteous ending of their season. But I know what you mean anyway.
  8. Stansbury Article

Not quite sure what you mean but "fringe benefits" implies pay for play or such. I don't question that Clemson benefits from a huge curriculum offering and an often less rigorous academic environment for athletes in particular (I hear parks and recreation is a favored major), and that is the...
  9. Stoopid's Complaints About Blocking

That's about what the Lexington paper said. Maybe the problem with all the Stoops is that they all want to be as good as their brother.
  10. Stansbury Article

Probably three of them made the cut to four. The thing with Clemson is that now they can two deep across the front and when those guys declare for the draft there is a replacement in the pipeline.

The more aggravating to me is that cut blocks aren't aimed at the knees, but the lower thigh. Go after an athlete's knees and he is going to step over you. Watch Tech's abacks on the edge or on the midline. They are going low but not that low because they are too easy to defeat. Spoken by a guy...

We have almsot always competed well against the SEC, save for LSU in that bowl game early on with Johnson. It's the only time I thought we were clearly outmatched. But I'm with you, because there is nothing finer or funnier than to be able to laugh at your kids for their foolishness.

So would Donald Trump. I wonder if Kelly's rep has not taken an almost fatal hit.
  14. Stoopid's Complaints About Blocking

Now that is something I didn't know.

A joke you know, a joke. Obviously a bad one.
  16. Stoopid's Complaints About Blocking

Even having a message board is a marvelous literacy advance for a state that only recently produced Freddie Thompson.
  17. ACC Bowl Action

Wasn't just his football life he messed up, was it? This guy is a walking minefield.

If you are in Georgia they actually are slightly above and to the left.
  19. Tennessee fans already starting to talk about the 2017 GT-Tennessee game

So tell us again: when was the last time Tennessee was a player even in the SEC? Peyton Manning? Bob Neyland is spinning in his grave at that situation.

I give Albany one thing: it has the most elegant monument to Ray Charles anywhere, if only they would get the fountain working. (From last I was there.) It frankly surprises me, given the history, but they do.)
