  1. ProJackets Update

You could call it the Stadium Formerly Known as Bobby Dodd ...
  2. Vegas sets GT season wins over/under at 6

How come we're lucky to recover fumbles and Alabama is really good when a freshman QB breaks great defensive containment and winds through several unblocked defenders for an almost-winning 36-yard NC touchdown? I'd rather be lucky than good, maybe, but what the heck, let's get a huge chip on...
  3. Jonesing for some updates from practice

If I recall correctly Johnson once said football is numbers and angles and the team with the numbers and angles on any given play should win that play. Left unsaid was the obvious: great players make great plays. I think we have decided football is cliches.
  4. Jonesing for some updates from practice

Well, I dunno. I have a lot of faith in the Atlanta edition of the old ball coach, but right now I am halfway into Rick Atkinson's trilogy of the U.S. Army in Europe in WWII, and in a literary sense scraping uphill with our guys for every bloody yard in the mountains of Italy. I find when the...
  5. Jonesing for some updates from practice

If he's gonna be the guy, where's the scholarship?
  6. Jonesing for some updates from practice

So much for my statesmanlike effort to stay above the QB fray. I know that some of you want Jordan, and some of you want somebody else, but I am finally going out on that limb. I'm with Paul Johnson.
  7. So with CPJ as our coach how many RB's have we lost early??

Nah, not a problem. But I find my attitudes have changed considerable once they started "stipends" or whatever they call the pay. I don't argue they shouldn't get anything because lord knows they are used by universities. But having gone pro, then treat them like it.
  8. So with CPJ as our coach how many RB's have we lost early??

Well, sure read to me like somebody knew and thus it was no big secret and wasn't Johnson's rule, so ... I don't get the confidentiality thing anyway as these are grown men and need to man up sooner rather than later. We ain't in high school any more.
  9. So with CPJ as our coach how many RB's have we lost early??

for the non-Techers among us, explain please. What rule? I feel like I have been parachuted into the unknown at midnight.
  10. So with CPJ as our coach how many RB's have we lost early??

Not quite sure I am reading it right, but Watson left with a year's eligibility remaining, as did if I recall, Mike Williams. Don't know about Gallman. But I flat out guarantee you that part of Dabo's attraction to his players is that he is the guy standing up for them and telling them if he...
  11. Dedrick Mills dismissed...

There's a graveyard down the road...
  12. We overhyped Mills...

If you insist, you are dumb and crazy. Awfully easy to fall into the trap of "we never liked him that much anyway" when in fact we did. But at least Johnson has struck a blow for East Mississippi Community College, whose motto is "Your mistakes are our gate."
  13. Dedrick Mills dismissed...

I hear the faint resonance of whistling there ...
  14. Dedrick Mills dismissed...

does this mean he won't make all-ACC? But given two suspensions last season, a third violation three weeks before the first game of '17, the elephant in the room is that this is a kid who should never have been recruited by Johnson. Given all this it seems doubtful he could make the grades...
  15. We knew him all too well...

Now, that is amazing. Now we know two things. He didn't practice tackling either, for which Austin is thankful. But that is a humbling job. I once knew a not-very-good and not-very-long NFL kicker, only slightly, and he said missing a kick was like going to your own funeral, made worse by so...
  16. We knew him all too well...

I have more than fond memories of this kid, who by happenstance gave Tech fans one of our greatest memories, two in fact because at the end of the great blocked kick return to beat FSU, he was spun off the returner like a rag doll ... and just a week before said he would never miss an open...
  17. This Year's Team Motto

Well, right about now, maybe more than ever before, none of us should take tomorrow for granted. Today I bought bananas and wondered on the way home just how smart that was.
  18. This Year's Team Motto

Please tell me the season will soon commence.
  19. ProJackets Update

Here's a short piece on his chances of making the team. I like the "bionic" leg reference. And he made a 51-yarder it seems. I would not want to be a kicker trying to make the NFL. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nfl/carolina-panthers/article166461662.html
  20. Fall Camp Thread

Any team with a WR named Bussoletti has to be a winner.
