Highest Revenue Earning Athletic Programs 2023

I'm not a Carson apologist and he certainly wasn't our best coaching hire, but it's an insult to him to be lumped in that same category as the other two. He was a .500 coach, and we have him to thank for the Budweiser song.

Highest Revenue Earning Athletic Programs 2023

Maybe we should do a poll. Apparently, winning the Director's Cup matters to some fans but not others. I suspect it may matter a little to Batt and possibly Cabrera, but not the rank-and-file GTAA employee, or student. I personally don't care that schools like UNC are ranked above us due to...

Highest Revenue Earning Athletic Programs 2023

As a counterpoint, UNC's and UVA's revenue has significantly exceeded GT's in recent years. For example, UVA took in over $100M more than GT over the 3 years immediately prior to 2023. My takeaway from the chart is we are finally catching up with our near-peer schools - a positive sign...

Uncle Lou predicts seven wins for GT this year

Player and coach turnover makes many of our games hard to predict based on last year's performances. If we played FSU mid-season last year, we would likely have experienced a beatdown. But we also saw how their offense fared without Travis (not good), and they had to bring in transfer DJU for...

CFB25 Video Game: images revealed of GT stadium, mascots, traditions

Can't argue with your first sentence as I'm not that familiar with EA games. Your second bold generalization has many counterexamples (Blizzard, Gearbox) so I don't know how you came to that conclusion. In any case, the GT cheerleader shot is low-resolution and may not represent the final...

Uncle Lou predicts seven wins for GT this year

Not trying to split hairs here, I just want to confirm my understanding, or lack of, the FEI stats. I read our Offensive FEI as 33rd (Drive efficiency is 47th), and Defensive FEI as 76th (Defensive drive efficiency is 108). VT was 38 and 63 respectively. Overall we landed at 53, VT at 44. Am...

Uncle Lou predicts seven wins for GT this year

Perhaps some of the advanced stats gurus can chime in with better data, but it did seem like our defense improved a bit in the second half of last season. Using FEI, 3 of the last 6 teams we played had top-25 offenses. Yet we allowed fewer points/game by almost a TD compared to our first 6 fbs...

Most of GT's Presidents in my lifetime have had engineering backgrounds. The exceptions are Crecine and Cabrera. Correlation? 🤔

    Article on Brent Key

Something I’d like to add since this thread is about CBK, is the ability to prioritize and focus- a trait of most good executives. This may be a subset of a category you've already itemized, but Key has so far shown an ability to address the squeakiest wheels first. Kicking teams a joke and...

Uncle Lou predicts seven wins for GT this year

One item I noticed in his video was the extra bye week we get this fall. I hope we can leverage that to our advantage. It can help resolve minor injuries and give us more time to prep for opponents. Our post-bye week opponents are Duke, Miami, and NC State.

I may be wrong, but I don't think the point of the ratings is to impress anyone with their awesome talent evaluation skills. And it's not just about the 5-stars. The services simply identify relative talent and potential from an extremely large pool of high school players, group it into tiers...

But are they saying that? The Rival's definition I quoted uses the term "potential". That's hedging a bit more than "likely".

Profundity, or lack of it, isn’t the issue here. The results are only intuitive if you buy in at least partially to the rating process and its accuracy. Some folks dismiss the ratings as silly or bogus. I look at the data in the linked article and see the nearly 40% hit rate for 1st or 2nd...

I’m making a documentary about the 2014 season for its 10th anniversary

That is my understanding as well. I believe it wasn't always that way, but after "Jasper thanks", the mutts insisted on having SEC officials at their home games. Also, I'm pretty sure the story about our long snapper getting run over and the ensuing complaint was from CPJ himself. There were...

Favorite moment of the ‘23-‘24 athletic season?

I’ll pile on to those that cite the end of the Miami game. Hard to top that in 2023 – for end-of-game drama, it's up there with 2015 FSU. As @MidtownJacket stated, the other thing about the Miami game, as well as several others in 2023 including UNC and UCF, was that it helped change my...
