  1. I love our OL!

Yep, he is. Funny thing is that I recall a lot of smaller schools recruiting him to play defensive tackle because of his speed. I am trying to remember, but it seems that we recruited him because we thought he would be a smaller, fast, and athletic offensive tackle that we prefer for our...

When it comes to my thinking, everything is generally mixed up not just the order of coaches. Where was Kiffen before UT? In his defense, he was outstanding at Alabama in upgrading their offense but it was apparent, at least to me, from the sideline demeanor and so forth that Saban did not...

Yeah, you are right I meant to say that I thought they could have named Cutliffe coach when Fulmer was fired but opted for DD who was as you said, bad all around. Kiffin prompted semi riots in Knoxville when he left. A string of events like that would have set many programs back for a decade...
  4. I love our OL!

"Big Uglies"? My wife thinks that Parker is kind of cute. Just passing that along for your information. Just remember, that she is 62!
  5. I love our OL!

I think it will be the best in the Johnson era. We will see. We have a lot riding on the line because of the need to protect MJ from having to win games by himself and the need to control the clock. If they can block for Mills, it will make life easier for everyone else, the opposing defense...

Well, I would rather play them now without Dobbs and Kramer (spelling?) for sure. They will have issues on defense with or without injuries. That said, I am more than happy to play them without those two defensive ends they had last year. They were rolling last year until they played...

Take the 2 off in front of the 5 for scenario number 1 and you just about got the real odds of that happening but then, the others don't look that good either. Can all of them lose?

I know Cutliffe is not well liked in these parts but I respect his coaching ability. Tennessee will rue the day, if they have not already, that they made the mistake of firing him. Tennessee is a good football program but they sure do some funny things sometimes.

You are probably right. I just hope we avoid a beat down of the sort Tennessee administered to Virginia Tech last year after all the hoopla that went into that game.

Yes, I can agree with that. Butch is already feeling the heat and a bad start would really make his seat get hotter than it already is. Losing to Vanderbilt will do that to you. Tennessee is one of those places where it always seems like there is something going on inside the building that...
  11. 2017 Offseason Thread

Yep. Ben Hill Griffin is quite a place. The loudest I can ever remember it being was when Doug Dickey was introduced (as they always do at Florida) as the Tennessee Athletic Director years ago. The rafters shook with boos. When the Gators played LSU or Tennessee at night boy howdy there was...

I would not give up on the run right away. This line has the potential to be the best in Coach Johnson's tenure. They will utterly dominate some, certainly not all, games this season. You wait and see. I can see us dominating their DL. I can also see multiple run blitzes and stunts from...
  13. 2017 Offseason Thread

I don't pretend to know anything about soccer but I do know that BDS is one loud place considering that a home game would only have 45,000 or so fans. It must be due to the configuration of the stadium because it has always struck me how much louder it is than you would expect for the size...

I know that this is going to be an unpopular opinion. For a triple option team, it is far better to start the year with a patsy and follow that up with a cupcake. The option is so dependent upon timing, assignments, etc. that it is hard to get the parts working the first game of the season...
  15. I AM AFRAID!!!!

This is a valid point. Playing against a high school team running a wishbone, veer, or even the wing T requires a certain amount of restraint. That said, a lot of this is caused by leading with the head. I only started one year of high school but I was taught to tackle with the shoulder and...
  16. Is this the year we get a U vs FSU...

I don't really see Miami playing for a national championship because the recruiting dynamics have changed in south Florida from back in the day (1980s and 1990s). Florida, FSU, and Auburn have all made inroads into territory that used to be strictly Cane territory. Miami gets great talent...
  17. Is this the year we get a U vs FSU...

I like CMR as well. He is a good recruiter and always has talented players that are usually ready to play. For the life of me, I cannot understand why Miami fired Randy Shannon. Florida scooped him up and is getting players out of south Florida that used to go to Miami. CMR played...
  18. GT 2017= what I have been waiting for on offense (Navy 2.0)

I still think the main difference is in the linemen. Our linemen now are much more athletic than what we had a few years ago. (no offense to the players then) As far as Dwyer is concerned. Well, there may never be another one quite like him in Coach Johnson's remaining tenure but there...
  19. GT 2017= what I have been waiting for on offense (Navy 2.0)

I am very sorry about this. Pat must have been a fine man.
  20. if tech was in the national championship game....

They are closer talent wise to Alabama than they have been in a long time but they are kidding themselves if they think that the cupboard was bare for Kirby. It wasn't and he knows it. They should be more obsessed with beating Florida and Tennessee.
