Body language told me Syracuse guys were trying to intimidate Tech players from the opening play and all night. Tech players largely tried to ignore it but they reacted whenever someone tried to push them around. I can only imagine what was being said or what the spitting was about.
Exactly this. Georgia has always been a recruiting hotbed, barely behind Florida, Texas, and California. All Georgia had to do was win consistently and they not only get their pick of in state recruits but also can cherry pick nationally. This is what we all feared.
Now they have a coach...
Never ever give your age away on this site 😊
Related to that never say you hate “rap” music. Just say, “He’s not my favorite
hip-hop artist,” and leave it at that.
😄
Yep, have no idea who would be the fastest of many great backs we have had but that “shifting from first gear to fourth gear” acceleration seemed to surpass any I’ve seen.
I hate when running backs give ground thinking they can outflank a group of tacklers, but, when Haynes made his cut after retreating, that was the fastest acceleration I think I’ve ever seen from a running back. The entire defense looked like a bunch of statues as he ran by them.
“It feels like many here have no expectations other than do better than Collins.”
OK, so that’s what you are feeling.
I would be willing to bet dollars to donuts that 99% of the people on this site want to average better than 6 wins a season. Prove me wrong. And don’t go by repeating again...
That’s a good point. Inconsistent and even sloppy at times, but as you point out, we scored a lot of points on a team known for defense, as well as a team that was burning clock with a running game to keep us off the field.
Except that targeting absolutely can be called from the booth. All the replay would have to show, according to the rule, is that some part of the defender’s body hit the neck or head area while the quarterback was in a vulnerable position, such as immediately after having thrown a pass.
So your interpretation is that if a flag had been thrown there would have been more latitude for interpretation? That kind of makes sense.
However, every questionable thing on the field is automatically reviewed whether a flag is thrown or not and even though the field crew has not called for...
It’s simple.
People are celebrating progress.
They’re not celebrating a team that is frustrating. They’re not celebrating a team that still lacks quality athletes at several positions. They’re not celebrating freshman mistakes. They’re not celebrating players who still have a lot to...
For as long as I can remember the rap on Tech by bowl officials has been that we don’t travel well. The only thing that has ever outweighed this is if we have a big enough season and play a nationally ranked team and local sports fans turn out because they like to watch football.
I went to the...
Too bad. I thought he came up with a masterful plan to compensate for not having a QB who could throw. I would not trade our victory over Syracuse for anything but would hate it if our victory was the nail in the coffin.
It is just such a muddy ruling. Even if you argue that it was a hit involving some kind of continuation of the play, it still happened against the number one player on the field the rule specifically seeks to protect.
I would love a complete explanation by the Charlotte officials but I think...
Yeah, hardly ever see anyone run a traditional screen anymore. Only seems to work consistently against prevent defenses. Every other defense run today can turn it into a major loss.
CPJ used this basic concept but it was a rocket toss. Similar principle of getting wide fast to pick up positive yardage. Didn’t have to be a big play for it to influence the defense on subsequent plays.
OK, I just read the NCAA targeting rule. The play in question was definitely targeting.
Hit doesn’t have to be with crown of helmet if player is in a defenseless position. Main example is a QB having thrown a pass. ANY contact in head or neck area of a vulnerable player is targeting.
