  1. The cold hard facts of GT Offense, Defense, Head Coaches

I think it would be shortsighted and foolish to assume based on one miserable year that Miami, VT, Virginia or Duke are down for the count. Those are good programs with good coaches and at least two of the four will not put up with mediocre records. Let's not log any wins just yet.
  2. Nate Woody . . .

    A Tech man, I see.
  3. The "Collins effect "........

I am curious as to what your objection is to Babers? He is highly regarded among ACC coaches. Makes me wonder about the disconnect.
  4. Nate Woody . . .

I trust it was well worth the miffing.
  5. Nate Woody . . .

I will say this. We never played it so well as in the Orange Bowl against Mississippi State. Dak Prescott got a ton of yards in front of the defenders, our D backs made sure tackles, and we controlled the game from the first quarter on. It might be the only it really worked, though.
  6. Nate Woody . . .

If he wanted the Tech education it was there for him.
  7. Nate Woody . . .

how did his name get in the mix, anyway?
  8. Does CPJ redshirt Chimedza?

Well, is the guy any good? Would he actually play going forward? I don't know. But I cannot imagine Johnson sticking his thumb in his replacement's eye, just as I can't imagine Collins asking him not to use him. It is Johnson's game to win or lose, not Collins'.
  9. Nate Woody . . .

I am pretty sure Johnson got Woody a 2-year contract. And knowing his reputation, laid possibilities out.
  10. The cold hard facts of GT Offense, Defense, Head Coaches

We saw Nesbitt play, and he played heart and guts and competed. But one assumes a 4-star QB can throw the ball. Well, accurately. He simply could not. The scheme made Nesbitt successful at GT.
  11. Nate Woody . . .

I will not recognize any coach of the year until they recognize Monken. I would not be surprised that any day that make him a 4-star and hand him the academy. He has that whole world wide community so pumped, and has made the Army-Navy game a real rivalry. Because Army stuck with him through two...
  12. Nate Woody . . .

You think? Guess you didn't see Army play.
  13. The cold hard facts of GT Offense, Defense, Head Coaches

I agree with your intent, but you insist on couching everything on "coaching ability". A good DC is hiring ability. If you phrase it that way, I would not argue much. But it had nothing to do with coaching. Shoot, Johnson could have coached the D, and did in an earlier life for Erk Russell and i...
  14. The cold hard facts of GT Offense, Defense, Head Coaches

Well, okay I guess. Though as I remember Johnson got more out of them in a new scheme that Gailey was able to get, and he recruited them for his stuff. And if you are gonna go there, please mention four straight bowl defeats with them, and an Orange Bowl blowout to Iowa which did a lot more to...
  15. Bold claims about our program

Actually it is more far-fetched. And will somebody please explain to the board why, with two years of HC experience and a mediocre record at Temple, he suddenly becomes a recruiting fool? I know about those claims he made about recruiting as a GA at GT, I just don't buy them and would love for...
  16. GT (-3.5) vs. Minnesota

Duke -- if it sheds that last miserable game -- should handle Temple, and VT, if the real VT shows up, will handle Cincinnati. Wake Forest should be no worse than pick 'em with Memphis. And I am anxious to see how NC State fares against A&M. It will tell us a lot about the state of their program.
  17. Bold claims about our program

    Define "casual" please
  18. What I'll miss about Tech football … and what I hope to see

Always looking for a greater level of understanding. Dallas Cowboys run zone blocking all the time. Hat on a hat, push 'em down field, Zeke picks a hole. Works like a champ if your hats are better than their hats. Not sure how that equals this: Clemson had a nose tackle blowing up every play we...
  19. What I'll miss about Tech football … and what I hope to see

You may be right, but I read it as a guy saying that he coached great and they played bad. But I dunno.
  20. What I'll miss about Tech football … and what I hope to see

I don't think we are ever going to have a coach who could make game adjustments like Johnson. And that is not a cry for Johnson's return or a wail about the injustice of it all. Remember the guy who said once that GT had only about six plays? Johnson could run "the same play" four or five times...
