  1. How players will remember CPJ ...

Don't you think that after a year, maybe before, Johnson will be coaching somewhere? Let's face it: had he had any success recruiting QBs, and not been snakebit by DCs -- how many DCs does it take to teach tackling? -- that good GT record might have been terrific. I don't think it will be a P5...
  2. OC Hire

Make it 75-25 and you about have it. The Alabamas, Clemsons, Ohio States, etc., know the reality that without the players the rest is useless. They have just 20 hours a week and so skill at the outset is paramount. A great QB coach can coach just so much couch potato.
  3. WR Coach - Kerry Dixon

If he has them in South Georgia he better not venture off U.S. 82 all the way to Alabama. Those Confederate flag flying whackos are best avoided, and those flags are everywhere. I go back home occasionally and it is like entering the 19 Century.
  4. Go Army

Did you hear the bozo Saturday explaining the option as alignment "symmetry": when you see one of the slot backs further outside, that means the option is going the other way"? I wonder if he even talked to Monken about it. (You do have to admit if he said something like "military precision"...
  5. Go Army

Monken indicated toward the end at GSU he was missing academy football. As for Johnson, yeah, I think so.
  6. Go Army

Eight minutes, 75 yards, seven points. As for Monken, there is a reality to the perception of this offense. Johnson probably will be the only P5 coach to run it. No school will buy into it, which leaves Monken with second tier -- the Temples or such -- for advancement. Not saying they would not...
  7. Bowl game Uni.... some will need a suicide watch

Why would you tell grads of GT and supporters of the football program that their opinion on the uniform doesn't matter? Since when? I thin the blue jersey is fine, always have liked them. Just a different color pants. Nothing is more hideous than a game uniform all of one color. Clemson's all...
  8. Bowl game Uni.... some will need a suicide watch

Don't worry. He knows where you live.
  9. Tashard Choice named RB coach

Oh, I don't know. A bunch of 'em worked or work out there in the off season, and when you can start with Johnson, Thomas, Mason ... that ain't chopped liver.
  10. Tashard Choice named RB coach

I actually like it more for the recruiting angle than the coaching. And that assumes he can do both. Having a former Techster, rushing leader, former NFL back, walking into the homes as still a young man whose name is still relevant can be a big plus. It won't beat Georgia's money, but it helps.
  11. Nate Woody . . .

Then he is well covered to find a job. Makes me feel better because I think he is going to make somebody a good coordinator.
  12. Nate Woody . . .

Does anybody know if he had a two year contract?
  13. McCollum

  14. McCollum

Welcome to Lake Woebegone, where all our coaches are above average recruiters. I don't argue for or against the firings. It is the nature of the beast and we need to move on. The onus is on Collins to win and to that end, he wields the hatchet. But don't assume that every coach on the roster is...

  16. The cold hard facts of GT Offense, Defense, Head Coaches

Well, some of those old regional biases do tend to hang around. And even might be justified in this case.
  17. The "Collins effect "........

    Well, okay then.
  18. Nate Woody . . .

Putting this here because I can't find a place but I think it is very telling. Monken's Army contract calls for a bit more than $900,000 salary. But then Army gets serious about this service academy rivalry. He gets a $50,000 bonus for beating Navy or the AF. And if he beats 'em both, $150,000...
  19. The cold hard facts of GT Offense, Defense, Head Coaches

What, you are saying that a guy who disappears into his basement in Statesboro and comes out in a few days with an entirely new offensive concept because the GSU team does not have a great running back is ... innovative? Be careful there.
  20. APR, Flunkgate, and Pelagian Theology

    Sediment? That is pretty revealing.
