This is definitely what you want in players. I like to call it explosiveness. Dwyer at his peak could hit his top gear before most defenders could react. The result was a highlight reel of big plays. On paper I don't think Anthony Allen was much different than Dwyer, but you can count his...
When I was in high school, our coach timed everyone and the same guy would run twice and it would be a 4.6 the first time and a 4.9 the next. Unless its laser timed, it really doesn't count. A high school coach with fat thumbs and bad eyes isn't going to give anyone an accurate time.
I think the biggest reason Nesbitt's completion percentage isn't very good is we mostly asked him to just throw it deep down the field. Completion percentages for most QBs are inflated by easy short and mid throws. The smoke route to Thomas were really the only short throws we attempted. It...
-2001 Auburn. Was on the field the when goal posts came down.
-2004 @Clemson. The Calvin coming out game. My buddy left the stands after the third and we gave him so much hell when we got back to the car.
-2008 @uga. In all actuality it was a miserable game. Cold with a light drizzle, and for...
If we can't teach our supposedly smart athletes to learn a position in 4-5 years like you are suggesting, then we either need to evaluate how we teach or who we are recruiting. HS QBs are usually the most athletic and gifted football player on their team. Oregon in any given year has upwards...
We've had a good handful of guys faster than Bostic that never ran into blockers. It isn't about how fast he is, but his ability to see the field while he runs. This is a key difference in good players and great ones. We still talk about Choice's ability to read blockers. I don't know if...
Just about every year we've had to replace our most productive AB. We will miss Godhigh, but I believe someone will step up. I think Days will have a very solid year with maybe 3-400 yards rushing and be our best blocker on the edge, but I fully expect either Hill or Andrews to step up and be...
BJ was banged up and if I remember correctly, the tourney was when Ish started having problems with his quad and lost a lot of his explosiveness. A healthy Ish might have slowed Ben Gordon down enough to make it closer.
We won't be getting Giddens. Doral Moore is the most likely big to hope for. I'm holding out for Dickerson, but I think he's probably going to Georgetown.
I think that the lack of shots being made is a direct symptom of our lackluster offensive sets. We don't get many open looks and usually end up forcing contested shots late in the shot clock. If we had a few studs that could either create their own shot or break their man down on the dribble...
If he doesn't hit multiple home runs in the 2015 class, he will be gone. I don't think Lammers or Jackson will do much to get us over the hump even though they look like solid players.
I agree with this. He had some good runs, but he also missed on a couple touchdowns. Sims would have looked like a stud if he was running through those holes.
My biggest concern with this is that it's taken him years to learn a position because of his limited football background. If we moved him now, how much field time could we hope to get out of him? It could be another two years before he was up to speed.
I don't see Lyons or Watson getting 1300 yards in 2010. I also disagree with the need for Allen at AB. We had Orwin, Roddy, Peeples, along with Bostic and Wright playing the position. Why would you want our best back getting 69 touches (Allen's 2009 total) instead of 243 touches (2010)?
