Preseason pick to win Ohio Valley Conference? A couple of preseason All America's on each line. One magazine picked them 4th preseason in their division.
Yep. The only one I can think of that would be remotely close would be Shawn Jones against Virginia and a couple of Joe Ham's masterpieces. Truly a performance for the ages. Please, please, pretty please, TM don't get hurt.
Are you implying that the criticism was unwarranted? (It was) The line looks well coached, motivated, and completely focused on their assignments. Coach Johnson is all about execution, well if that is what you want they pretty much delivered almost all night. Reminds me of what John McKay...
That is one way of looking at it. I would never thought that we would lose a game with the defense getting five 3 and outs. Usually, that stat will get you beat in a game with a triple option team. Tennessee was very fortunate to win last night but their luck is about to run out.
We lost but put on a good show in front of a national TV audience 99% of whom (well probably our traditional opponents knew better but still) did not give us a chance to win. I am disappointed with that reaction. Our players gave their best effort and "left it on the field" as the saying...
OK. Take your word for it. Think about this. If those of us who have been watching this offense for years can't tell who is supposed to get the ball then how in Hades is the defense supposed to figure it out when some SOB is cut blocking you at the same time?
I will admit it. I was marginally concerned about the possibility, however remote, that JSU could spring an upset with us coming off an emotional game and playing just a few days later but after watching that offensive juggernaut...Nah they just will not be able to match us touchdown for...
Others more knowledgeable would best determine that. I would not go so far as to say EVERY give to Benson was a called play. We did run some veer it looked like and the usual counter traps and counter delay with T running the ball. Don't know if that was with a double option or not. Hard to...
True dat. There was no "twirl" that is characteristic of the triple option. But I would be willing to bet that Benson and Marshall will bond and be as instinctive as any quarterback - bback combination we have had in Coach Johnson's tenure.
Well, I have been and to a certain extent continue to be a CTR apologist. He loves Georgia Tech, he is an excellent recruiter and a credit to the Institute in so many ways. BUT I am tired of defending his style of defense. Let's look at Alabama. They come all the time from every direction...
The difference is the quarterback and the Bback are already on the same page with the mesh and reading the defense. Plus, the line is better than ever. Man, that Benson can really block on that little delay counter that Marshall ran so well. Kirvonte is absolutely perfect for this offense...
Funny thing about Marshall. He is well, different from what I expected. I thought he would basically be a poor man's JT5 but let me tell you he takes a back seat to nobody. He is extremely quick and fluid seems to pitch the ball well and is a natural triple option quarterback. He is very...
Well, the UT fans have a point. Given the talent they have, they are pretty bad. Giving up over 600 yards in one game will make you look bad. But then, we know something about that in recent years do we not?
I appreciate your sentiments but respectfully disagree that Tennessee is a top 25 team. They have an outstanding running back in Kelly, a pair of fine receivers, a fast defense that apparently was ill prepared and as always with Tennessee teams excellent special teams but they really are not...
I like this but do not agree with any of it. Our team will have to improve a lot to be in any mention of divisional or conference championships. The defense is, about what you would expect after all these years and special teams are the worst of the PJ era. Neither of these teams should be in...
