I agree with you Boomer, except reverse the teams. It's Pitt Homecoming. They gave up 26 yards rushing to VT. We will continue to have trouble stopping the other team when the game is on the line. Pitt kicks a field goal with about 1 minute to go and wins 30-27. I HOPE I AM WRONG !
Pitt's game plan will be Duke II. They have the running game to pull it off. It will come down to who has the longest time of possession . If the game is on the line at the end , we will see if our D has learned anything about stepping up and making a play at crunch time.
I have been having this same thought. Fedora let us score to get the ball back last. He doesn't strike me as that much of a thinker......but then , his team won.
I agree with you Nuke. I would like to have seen coach go to Byerly sooner in this game, starting the 3rd quarter. IMO we were playing sloppy and flat and that would have sent a signal to the whole team that he was not happy with the performance at that time. You explain it during halftime to...
I have been a proponent of this plan for this offense for a long time. Especially if you have a talented " backup " as we apparently do. Also , the physical toll it takes on the main guy, not only in the game but as the season goes along. Everyone gets beat up along the way. Maybe CPJ will give...
Couldn't we all really see this one coming ? I said a couple of weeks ago, Duke would be ready . We ( and the refs ) helped them a lot , but they had 2 weeks to prepare and looked like they were paying attention, on both sides of the ball. We were EXTREMELY flat , until it was too late...
No doubt about that. But I believe that was also true last year, but PJ gave Vad a real shot because he had done the work, tried his best and thought maybe it would work.
I guess what has always impressed me about PJ , is that he really tries to stick with the QB whose " time" it is , and does everything he can to make them ( and the team ) successful. I know some criticize him, but the man can coach !
Thanks guys, pretty much what I have been thinking, too. As much as Vad seemed to be a great guy in the locker room and to his teammates, he could NOT have made those game winning drives against Ga. Southern and VT, IMO.
Let's play a little " what if " , just for fun .....
What if Vad had decided not to transfer ? I wonder how the QB situation would have played out this year.
It seems as if PJ likes to give the QB the year to play, if he works hard and tries to learn the system . He stuck with Vad , even though...
I still see 7 wins. I know everyone thinks we " own " Duke. I'm not so sure. If they are healthy , especially at the QB position, they have enough talent now to beat us. And they will be motivated. IMO, with this team being so young, we don't have any sure wins the rest of the year. And I hope...
I have been saying all last year and into this year that we need playmakers. Someone who can make a needed play against a big time opponent at a critical moment of the game. I think JT might just be that player.....quietly confident,
wants the ball in his hands at that critical moment , with...
Come on guys ! we've been there too. It hurts to lose ,especially like that . Remember last year ? Seemed like every game we lost was like that . Its fun to have a great rivalry with another " Tech " , and feels soooo good when we get the W.
