Where do we go from here?

Or, it’s a destructive, reinforcing cycle caused by not forcing the other team to punt. It’s entirely possible that someone else hates GT offensive 3-and-outs more than I do. But as a defender, the best way to catch your breath is to tackle the other guys short of the sticks. I grant that our...

Thacker out at DC, now Safeties coach

I don’t have the answer. In “co-“ situations, very few fans do In theory, the co-coordinator takes on some of the coordinator duties. In practice, some coordinators split some duties, some don’t, but the coordinator (not the co-coordinator) is in charge and makes the calls. Unless someone...

Thacker out at DC, now Safeties coach

I won’t mention the DB name or number, but we did that a few times yesterday. I remember once when one of our DBs trailed a BG receiver by three yards across the middle about 7 yards deep, for a healthy first down conversion (much more than 7 yards). I had to check to make sure it wasn’t an LB...

    Bowling Green Post Game... 😢

They’re still a team we should beat, even with the turnovers (like the punt snap :wideyed: ), but statistically the turnovers show up huge.

Haynes King Update: How Do We Feel About Him?

When Johnson was the coach here, it was easy to say we were leading the conference in rushing yards. What was important was total offense, though (and we did well there, too) Here’s the official ACC stats, including games like SCST. We’re 8th out of 14, which is slightly below average. Rank...

Thacker out at DC, now Safeties coach

maybe he’d been thinking about a change, and watched the film again. He cut loose some coaches last year. Bad coaches, bad players, toxic personalities are easy choices—you cut them loose. Coaches and players with POTENTIAL are the ones that can be coach-killers—you expend a ton of energy...

Where do we go from here?

I tend to agree. If it is #36, it’s not evenly distributed. That’s in the top 1/3rd of FBS. That’s “clearly going to a bowl game, if not a good one” talent. Also it’s either even and deep (which we aren’t as far as I can tell), or has a 3-5 difference makers on each side of the ball—a Percy...

I think you’re unusual in that opinion that Bowling Green is a good team.

We’ve seen some bad play calls. However, all defenses look bad when people whiff on tackles

Thacker out at DC, now Safeties coach

@Buzz_404 I edited the title a little Moving Thacker to Safeties might help shore up the secondary performance. It’s not the best resume entry for Thacker, but the defense this year isn’t either. Front 6 performance needs to be addressed. Sherrer is accountable for that

    Coach Prime to Colorado

I don’t think he’s saying the Alumni would stay home. I think he’s saying that Deion Sanders would have 55k sign up IN ADDITION TO the alumni and the existing fan base. Anyway, we have Key. He is our coach. And he has to deal with where we are now.

    Bowling Green Post Game... 😢

(continued) We got more yards than they did. Their yards counted towards points, though—and ours didn’t. By the numbers, their OL didn’t perform better than ours. By my eye test, they were blocking a lot better. For the stats, again we did very well at getting yards. Points, not so much...

    Bowling Green Post Game... 😢

Here’s your Game on Paper: We were underdogs by halftime: Our offense was—obviously, to anyone who watched the game—amazing out of the gate and then started to leave the building after 15 plays, and AWOL for most of the game. On the other hand, Bowling Green built momentum about 10 plays in...

    Bowling Green Post Game... 😢

The Citadel is arguably the worst loss in our school history. Yesterday was worse than NIU. The Citadel being worse is no comfort. Key and our players have very little margin for error this year. Serious football teams and serious players do not lose yesterday’s game.

Haynes King Update: How Do We Feel About Him?

As an analogy, (IMO) what we have in King is a Porsche that needs some engine work and some maintenance. He shows signs of being a great QB, but he shows a lot of problems too. And we need to fix those, if fixable. I read this thread like I read our “top 10 offense” thread from earlier this...

Haynes King Update: How Do We Feel About Him?

There are a lot of stats we can pick. His QBR dropped yesterday against a really bad team The first 5 minutes were awesome. The next few hours were not. We did the same kind of talk for Sims. We counted only the successes and ignored the problems for a while. That doesn’t excuse the...
