I think the call was made because the QB gets protection from head shots (not just launching and targeting) and there is new rule on hits below the knee to the QB as well. Any player other than the QB and I doubt this would have been called.
I agree we did not play that well on O early last year, even in the VT game. But when we were behind late in the Ga So and VT games and got an opportunity we made the big plays to win. Last week the chance to win with 6 minutes to go was a big disappointing bust and a lesson I hope we overcome...
That's what is so disappointing about the loss. We had the great opportunity to win this game and had two chances at what we do best and failed. Fix that or nothing else will matter much.
Byerly can throw that slant but the last two JT tried were in the grass low and behind the receiver. I hope this can be improved. Our ABs are generally open early but we wait too long to throw to them, generally.
One was thrown low and behind Lynch in the second half. Very poor throw made it look like it was not worth the effort or had not been practiced enough.
Sounds to me like what he said after the 2013 season: "getting back to what we do" , which is establish the run first and foremost with our basic "6 plays" and throw when it is to our advantage...vintage CPJ.
Their defensive secondary is quite strong and tackles very well. Last year we tackled poorly and gave up too many possession plays and turnovers. To beat Duke you have to play a game with few mistakes because that is how Duke will play. We can surely win if we play well, and Duke will win if we...
I don't think the depth chart order means much for ABs. CPJ only used 4 ABs in the OB and he generally likes to rotate 5. That probably means either MLD or Quaide will stay a RS. He has McClellan who played a lot in the fourth Q of the ND game who can be used if he wants to play the 6th. I...
Not surprised to see MLD at AB on the depth chart but was surprised to see Quaide at AB. Maybe that is what CPJ meant when he said MLD or other will likely play AB based on practice. He also said one of the freshmen WRs might play based on practice. Looks like its Howell.
If you are not a well practiced proficient passing team the short throws over the middle are a big pic six risk. IMO it is not JeT's height limitation as much as Coach's decision where we do not pass.
Pretty much what CPJ said in the Press Conference: MLD or someone else will be next man up at AB based on practice and J Johnson or a freshman will be next man up at WR based on practice. IMO He seemed to lean toward MLD at AB and a freshman at WR in his tone.
CPJ in his weekly Press Conference said on two occasions "our DBs turned the wrong way" on pass coverage plays. On the TD Milton turned (or if you prefer was pushed) inside and the ball was outside where the receiver had position and Milton did not. The receiver cleverly stayed inside the ball...
I agree it was not effort, especially Milton who was closing fast. The D scheme seemed to be like the Elon 90 yard run. We had them backed up and we stacked in tight (horizontally) and had no pre-snap vertical depth (no deep safeties). I haven't seen any film, just going by recollection. Roof...
From Northeast Stinger: "Not sure if this was a strategy or just poor field leadership but Tech had a malingering attitude about getting ready for the next play on offense. Way too many times JT was just getting under center with as little as 8 seconds left on the play clock. This occurred over...
Our troubles started when we could not get the pre snap read done and the ball snapped in 25 seconds. And that continued to happen. We were just not mentally prepared for their D scheme and never really adjusted. We were just getting outplayed in all phases of the game but we did put out a...
No give up. Roof just put us (again) in that special "Elon 90 yard TD" pressure D with no deep safeties. Hope he learns. Same for third and long. Bring the pressure, otherwise samo-samo.
Tony is now graduated, engaged, and settled into his new job. His High School is retiring his Jersey tonight. Congrats to a fine young Tech Man!
