Interesting article with some good perspective. In many ways, GT is the best available job on the market this offseason. We also have...
I live in the Dominican Republic most of the year, but was in Atlanta last year for the Tennessee game and this year for the Duke game. I’ll always be there as long as I’m able to go when I’m in town or close enough to drive.
I would take the highs and lows of his tenure 10 times out of 10 vs. the mediocre 6 or 7 win seasons we got with Gailey. The highs were sweet, and worth the lows in my opinion.
Bill Shanks (who is not a GT writer, but is a sports writer in GA) just tweeted that he's heard Johnson is retiring. I'd love to hear this from someone else, or have it debunked... wonder where he's getting his information?
I'd guess Malachi Carter ends up being the top receiver next fall. I'm sure Camp will also start, but I'd guess Carter will get the most throws to him.
If we were 7-3 rather than 6-4, I think you'd see some support. If we had beat Pitt, we'd be playing for the Coastal title this week and that'd have gotten us some love. I will say that I'm surprised we didn't get a single vote.
Yeah I'm not worried about it... whoever goes to that game is unlikely to beat Clemson anyways. Lets beat UVA and give ourselves a chance at 8 or 9 wins :)
So... we're eliminated from the coastal because a 3 way tie doesn't help us? Pitt has tiebreakers on GT and VA and we only would have tie breaker on VA? Is that the gist of it?
If we beat UVA, I see a 0% chance that Johnson is fired this winter. If we lose both UVA and UGA and also lose the bowl game and finish 6-7, I could see it as a possibility... but I think he's done a great job righting the ship and winning some key games. I'd love to have the Pitt game back...
Great win tonight... capitalized on some of the Miami mistakes... I thought johnson called a good game overall, Marshall battled and got it done. Need to enjoy it for a day and get ready to beat UVA!
I'm very excited and nervous for this game. I think tonight defines our season. I think we'll beat UVA, with all their injuries on D... so tonight is the difference between 7-4 going into GA with a ton of momentum and 6-5 and a ho-hum low tier bowl game. Plus... national TV and a chance to...
Shocked we're getting TWO non-noon start times. Of course they are later in the year when it's cold. But it's a start. I don't know what I'd do with myself if GT had 4 or 5 3:30 or later home games in the same season.
Absolutely... I think all parties involved deserve a little time to see what Woody can do, as well as the effects of increasing the recruiting staff/budget and how that will play out the next few years.
As I said before, winning cures all. CPJ needs to win vs. Miami this week and then find a...
I think points per drive is probably the best indicator... we play a ball control game, we want to control the clock and so the points per drive stat is more important than total points I think.
Exactly. Winning cures all.... say what you want, blame who you want... but we had a TERRIBLE run with TQM as QB. There's a shot in the arm for the program with Oliver under center... we need to see where that leads.
If we finish 7-5, that means we went 6-2 over the last 8... I'll be very very happy with that. A bowl win would be icing on the cake. He absolutely deserves to come back if we go 7-5, considering how Oliver would likely be so instrumental in the turnaround.
