  1. Just heard Tstan on 680

So he did. He went from being a basketball player physique to being a football player with hard work and determination. It can be done.
  2. Just heard Tstan on 680

My dad traveled all over the country as a manufacturer's representative. Everywhere he went people knew about Georgia Tech. Literally every contact at every business was impressed that he had an engineering degree from the Institute. That was nearly a half century ago. Some things never change.
  3. Just heard Tstan on 680

Yep. That he was. What about Vance Walker or Darryl Richards? Seems like Vance vastly overachieved his star rating. Can't remember exactly.

Hey! That's me when I am playing tennis. The contorted face, the impotent rage, the clenched, yet feeble fist. It's all there sans the $70 Bolle' sunglasses. I congratulate you sir! Well done.

"...the guy that this board hates the most." Coach Peyton? Coach Speed? Oh, you must mean the one whose very mention sends many into rage and righteous indignation? That would be Coach Roof.
  6. Just heard Tstan on 680

This has been a recurring theme with Georgia Tech football players. We have had a bunch of them way outperform their high school ratings through perseverance, hard work, luck with injuries, and good coaching too!
  7. Just heard Tstan on 680

Well, there you go. Megatron only a 4 star? Perish the thought. Based upon production and how they turned out, I would speculate that he, Bey Bey, Dwyer, Michael Johnson (maybe), Joe Ham and Dez White should all have been 5 stars. But that is hind sight of course.
  8. Just heard Tstan on 680

No doubt about it. Defensive tackle is the hardest position to recruit simply because there are so few of them. Some of them are big enough but are too slow. Some of them are fast enough but are not big enough. The second hardest position? Hard to say but I will go with offensive line...
  9. Speculative question: has Tstan "coached up" CPJ

Boy that gets my goat too. No coach, in his right mind, is going to talk about injuries in such a way as to give an opponent advance notice. Gee, you would think he would have gotten this by now.
  10. Speculative question: has Tstan "coached up" CPJ

Compared to Spurrier he is downright diplomatic. Can't say that he has mellowed that much. I think he is more comfortable with the AD and is happy with the identity of the option offense being Georgia Tech. He is who he is. Whoops didn't mean to go there.
  11. Just heard Tstan on 680

Since the beginning of the "modern era" of recruiting rankings and such about 2000 or so how many if any 5 stars has Tech been able to sign? I have no idea. Was Bey Bey a 5 star? How about Calvin? Dwyer? Anyone ? I do know that the class of 2007 was widely considered our best class ever...
  12. Just heard Tstan on 680

No doubt about it. But given the proper resources, we could do a little better within the current parameters but it is a tough row to hoe that's for sure.
  13. Just heard Tstan on 680

Well, you would think but the fact is that all 5 stars and most 4 stars have spent their high school years being told over and over how wonderful they are, how they can do no wrong, etc. They honestly believe that the riches of the NFL are just over the horizon and college is only a step up the...
  14. Tech vs Clemson, it's actually very easy to explain

You know as well as I do that UGA consistently underachieves relative to their talent. They are very good this year and will be a handful but I would not put that game down as a loss just yet. Of the teams that we play consistently, the four that give us the most trouble are Virginia Tech...
  15. Tech vs Clemson, it's actually very easy to explain

Sure we do pretty consistently but those 4 and 5 stars have to be motivated, well coached, versed in what we do, restrain themselves from doing what comes naturally to them like freelancing and trying to cover for someone else etc. Often times they can't consistently do those things. USCw is a...
  16. Tech vs Clemson, it's actually very easy to explain

True dat! They let the dogs out that night for sure. You will recall that Miss State's defensive coordinator left the team to take another job just weeks before the Orange Bowl and Mullen put his defensive backs coach? as an interim. Needless to say, Coach Johnson was inside that guy's head...
  17. Tech vs Clemson, it's actually very easy to explain

Good question. The problem is that the option will not work against teams with really outstanding tackles and big fast linebackers who are well versed in what we do. Clemson's tackles were shooting the gap on the backside and nailing poor old Taquon before he could take more than two or three...
  18. Tech vs Clemson, it's actually very easy to explain

Well, if it makes you feel any better, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, and Boston College probably feel the same way albeit for slightly different reasons.
  19. Ok Brilliant Engineers....

Maybe he was part of the "Oust Faust" crew? Whoops my bad wrong school.
  20. Ok Brilliant Engineers....

That's right, Fob was a fullback back in the day.
