  1. Rest of the 2017 Season

No this team is not one of the top 10 teams in the country. Top ten teams do not have special teams issues like we have and are much more likely to have a shut down defense at least some of the time. To me, the difference between the elite teams and the rest of the crowd is defense. Talent...
  2. Wake @ Georgia Tech (-7)

I think that UNC is about done for this year. Put a fork in them. The only possible upset I see is either our game with Wake or Pitt at Duke and I would not put a nickle on either of the underdogs in those games either.
  3. I’m going to Homecoming & we’re going to crush WF

You sure about this? Asking for a friend. If we do not have Mitchell and Benson available this game could get interesting. Just saying.
  4. CPJ in One-Score Games

Only a Tech fan would put this information in a chart. It is interesting but I am not sure that it means that much. Gailey may have done better in one score games because that defense was so hard to move on in late game situations. They just kept coming and eventually they would get to the...
  5. Trenches?

This does not happen that often but we got whipped up front on offense. On defense, they moved the ball pretty well but struggled as Miami is wont to do in the red zone. The best part of Miami's team is great team speed on defense and very good receivers. We have played them in prior years...
  6. Two stops in a row while it was 24-22.

Miami's speed and athleticism in flying to the ball was a factor. That said, we should have been able to move them off the line of scrimmage better. We got whipped up front for much of the game especially in the second half. Losing Kirvonte hurt us badly on offense and losing Brant was...
  7. Miami Postgame

I have a question. Was the pass to Brad actually dropped or did the defender get his hands on it? Seems like the defender was pretty close but Brad had beaten him to the inside on what looked to be a slant of some sort.
  8. Miami Postgame

I agree with all of this especially about the O line. I was disappointed with them because we badly needed to control the clock in the fourth quarter and could not do it. I must respectfully take exception to the reasoning Miami is a top 10 team. They are not. Beating GT and FSU is just not...
  9. Miami Postgame

You people want to get rid of Coach Johnson and the triple option? Fine, get rid of the recruiting restrictions, change the name from Georgia Institute of Technology to Georgia Institute for Technology and State University or some such with lots of UNC type majors and total factory type focus...
  10. Stansbury

Nope. You are correct we are not relevant in football and will remain irrelevant until recruiting improves.
  11. Fan reactions: Perceptions and delusions

I am surprised at MR. I thought he knew better than to try that sort of foolishness. To me, it speaks volumes about his respect for Georgia Tech and Coach Johnson that he would resort to that sort of trickery.
  12. Fan reactions: Perceptions and delusions

They don't have to say anything and nor should they. However, it was apparent at least to me, that Coach Roof was not confident in our secondary enough to put press coverage on those bubble screens especially with the twins who are excellent in open field tackling.
  13. Stansbury

What he (Stanbury) can do is get more recruiting resources available for Coach Johnson and Coach Roof. He can pay the assistants more money. He can continue to address the concerns that fans have about parking and the game day experience. He can work with the various student groups to instill...
  14. Fan reactions: Perceptions and delusions

I distinctly remember reading a quote, perhaps from Taz Anderson or maybe Billy Lothridge to the effect that as a team they always expected to win because Dodd instilled that confidence in them that he would always think of something that would work. Opponents derisively called it "Dodd Luck"...
  15. Fan reactions: Perceptions and delusions

This "feeling" that you and your wife have is directly due to our team and coaches not having a killer instinct. Do you think Bear Bryant would have lost that game given the same circumstances? Hell no. he would have had MR wishing he would never ever schedule Alabama again. Our team is a...
  16. Miami Postgame

He's a good coach but he had his shot at a national championship with the best UGA team I have seen in my life time and blew it. They can't all be Saban or Meyer.
  17. Miami Postgame

True dat! As fans we never will know what goes on in the locker room. To be sure, the guys are discouraged with this loss. I hope it does not linger.
  18. Miami Postgame

He is very good I will grant you that but he also stepped into a good situation. Clemson has the horses up front on defense which makes things pretty simple most of the time. Personally, I always thought the guy he replaced.... was it Kevin Steele was a pretty good coordinator also. Having...
  19. Miami Postgame

May be a lack of depth. Might possibly be coaching, lack of adjustments, I really don't know. I do know that we will be way better in the third down defense rankings than we were last year so there is that.
  20. Miami Postgame

It's the Jimmies and Joes more than the DCs. To put it charitably, we lack talent and depth on defense. Today, the defense did about as well as could be expected with the exception of the last drive. Compared to other defenses we have had in the Coach Johnson era this one is actually one of...
