The real question is why do GT fans have such short memories, accentuate the negative, or both? That Orange Bowl victory was 15 months ago. If it was 15 years ago the "we can't compete" tantrum might have a chance of making sense.

In 1988, Cremins got the highest paid shoe contract from Nike. I don't think either thing has particular relevance to the future. Here is a link to an article from 1990 showing Cremins as the highest paid coach by a shoe company.
