  1. Duke vs Texas A&M

No, not really. It appears you think that all is well with our team and coaching, we can do no wrong. I have found out in my life that most of the things that have happened in my life has been the result of the choices I made. The same happens in the football games; the results generally depend...
  2. Program has bigger problems

CrackerJacket: Yes, that is part of the problem of attendance at Tech. Many students at Tech come from afar and then go back to their homes away from the State of Georgia. It is imperative that Tech attract the so-called sidewalk fans like myself. We are some of the strong groups that were...
  3. Would we really be that bad

I think Vad would do well in a run and shoot offense. He is a good passer, but all passers must be in an offense where they do this consistently in a game. Our quarterbacks pass little in games. If we had an offense of close to 50/50, I think Vad would be effective. He also has the speed from...
  4. Redshirt report - Defense

If a DB jumps in front of the receiver on 3rd and long, the quarterback cannot throw the quick first down pass, and it gives the pass rushers that extra second or two to get to the quarterback. No, you cannot do this on every down, but you can vary it. If an opponent knows you will give up the...
  5. Quaterback Development

Nesbit had instinct for the position and was a man playing a boy's game.
  6. Already looking to next year

The answer is simple, you cannot place a square peg in a round hole, it is learned in kindergarten.
  7. No Wonder We Were So Good !

Ramblinwreck7: I like Richt as a person. I also think Richt is a better coach, but not to great in selecting assistants. He did very well at UGA when he first arrived and was the Head Coach and offensive coach at the same time. His demise started when he handed the offensive coordinator's job...
  8. Coaching Carousel

I think Schiano would be a good fit for Penn State. Sometimes a college coach will not do as well in the pros because the wealthy athletes must be handled a little different than the college kids. Schiano did well in college and built up a smaller program. I believe the people at Penn State...
  9. Program has bigger problems

Mack. I agree, the only thing that will persuade the Hill is money or lack thereof. There are only two ways to do this; the money boosters must put pressure on the Hill, and the fans will quit attending the games if these poor showings continue. Both of these actions places the burden squarely...
  10. Introduce yourself

Thanks for the birthday wishes. My birthday present from my family is to leave me alone on New Years so I can watch all the bowl games. Actually, I was the first baby born in Atlanta in 1936. I still have the picture and article of my mother and me taken by the Atlanta Paper that day. The luck...
  11. Redshirt report - Defense

I don't care how many good linemen and pass rushers we have; if the backs do not step inside the receivers on 3rd and long, the opposition will continue to get first downs on 3rd and long. This allows them to make the quick pass for a first down before pass rushers or linemen can get to the...
  12. Duke vs Texas A&M

Personally, I like Duke. However, they did not play defense. I believe the biggest problem with the ACC teams is defense.
  13. Already looking to next year

Personally, I think Vad Lee would have been a good College quarterback in a standard offensive system of equal pass and run, or a run and shoot type of offense. However, he is being asked to be the square peg in a round hole. It is not his fault.
  14. Program has bigger problems

I don't think you could find anyone who would try to discredit the fact that it is harder to recruit at Tech because of the entrance requirements. However, I still think a good coach will attract the better athletes that we miss out on presently. Am I to believe that we did not offer...
  15. What would you do about our coach?

What would I do? I would fire him now, but I am not paying his salary, so my opinion matters little. The boosters with the big money are the only ones who can make this decision. I would guess they would probably fire him except for the big buyout.
  16. The ACC in the bowls

Boy, did I ever miss this one!
  17. Duke vs Texas A&M

I am astounded! I thought Duke had little or no chance against Texas A&M. I have been out to a family party all day and just came in to see the field goal to give Duke a 38-17 lead. If this continues, I will have to say Duke was no fluke this year.
  18. Program has bigger problems

The one and only way (there is no other way) for better financing and attendance is winning. There is no CEO or person wishing to invest their money that would buy into a market fund if it was mediocre or a poor fund. I can assure you fans will come from all four corners to support GT football...
  19. Head Coach Model

I am not sure there is a model for a coach, because everyone is different. I don't think you can pin-point a model for the successful approach, but I have my idea about some of their needed credentials. It is most important that you can relate to the kids coming into the program. Make no mistake...
  20. Introduce yourself

PatrickinGA: I also worked for BellSouth and took the buyout in 1991. I was there for 36 years and retired at the age of 56. My son still works for them except it is now AT&T. I enjoyed the 36 years, but have never been back except to one of my friend's retirement.
