Defense came to play except 4th down play. Offense looked out of sync, and special teams gave up 12 points.
Disappointed is an understatement. I hope at least the O can improve, if not it will be a long season.
Comparing a player 3 games into a year with a whole season/career of someone is not a fair metric. Some people last year also said Laskey and Days weren't real threats at Bback, up to about the Pittsburgh game.
I'm sure Skov had some mess ups, but he also made some plays. If we missed 71...
No, you're right. We didn't run much midline.
Maybe stylee can jump in but I think there were a few reasons for this.
1.) They were in an odd front a lot of the game. It is tough to run midline with a "0" tech heads up on center.
2.) Our abacks were having trouble blocking linebackers, so...
I'm not boomer but I'll take a shot
1.) I believe it was to take the defender out of the box. They would follow him, so we left him. One less defender in the box.
2.) That was a midline. Yes, it was a give and first down and shot at a TD.
A lot of growing to do.
Kudos to ND. I knew they were talented, but that front 7 is very nasty and we couldn't block them.
We hung around but couldn't hit fgs, taking points off the board.
The defense played well minus one play, and I thought ND got away with a lot of holding on both sides. No...
Lawson is a player. Their defense is still very good, but they aren't at the level they were last year. That's understandable with all the talent they lost.
Gallman is a good back, but he isn't Ellington.
They don't really have a big play receiver. All possession guys. Losing Williams probably...
The trap and dive give should discourage the "safety at MLB" plan. We had trouble getting to 6 on option plays, but he was blown up numerous times on dives and traps, most notably the block by Klock on the TD.
He will have his hands full. DJ has a chance to show out for scouts.
Fuller reminds me of a longer Dez White. He is the best WR we will face all season, especially since Mike Williams is hurt.
Our secondary will have to get off blocks. ND throws a lot of WR screens.
On our WR, they have to...
Talking about MJ:
"We moved him to a back because we knew we would have young guys there and we thought he was a good athlete. There's a couple of those a backs, truthfully, that will be at QB next spring."
T Marshall?
Edit: per Cuse's postgame
