I had some support drummed up among a decent cluster of students from my grad program (many who had never seen a football game before), but the rain + 40-50 degree temps killed that. The UNC game last year was a lot easier to stand through.

Letting students bring guests into the blocks could definitely improve attendance. Right now, you can only buy guest tickets for the South end zone if all the free tickets haven't been claimed. Plenty of flasks are still making past security, I assure you.

The security is not bad at all if you show up more than 15 minutes before kickoff. I did find it comical how lax security was by comparison when I presented paid tickets at non-student gates between my undergrad and grad years.

The biggest problem IMO (which I've mentioned before) is that there is no way to transfer a reserved season ticket to another student. If I can't go, that's an empty seat. I'm not sure how you solve that without introducing other problems, though.

I imagine attendance will largely hinge on weather, though the commute on Fridays in Atlanta is nothing to sneeze at. Members of the student group I sit with are going to show up regardless!

VT '09 - I think this was the first game I attended as a student (at least since the 90s, when I didn't follow football as closely). Clemson '11 - I had graduated and bought a Triple Option pack, ended up with mostly Clemson fans. Wake '09 - The game where I became a Josh Nesbitt fan forever...

You can't blame CPJ for tamping down the hype after what happened with Vad this past year. He tried to measure expectations and people were still disappointed.

If we had a different coach, I might be worried that GT would look past Southern, but CPJ won't want to lose to his former team.
