    Spring practice opens tomorrow

Some do. Florida and South Carolina do. And I think you're wrong about the only ones going being hardcore fans. We used to see quite a few high school football players come to watch the practices.

Where Do You Expect GT to Finish Next Year? 50th Is Reasonable.

Boy, do I hope you're right. The pessimist in me says that Bud Foster has figured out how to stop us and that, even when we beat them at Grant Field and they were ranked, it was quite a struggle. But my next-door-neighbor is a VT grad and former player. I get tired of losing to them every...

I know you're joking about the mortgage, but I'm wondering why the optimism about this particular game?

I agree. Kid just gets open and he catches everything.

    Spring practice opens tomorrow

I really wish this would change back to open practices. I miss driving down to watch spring practices. I also believe the open practices help to generate more excitement for GT football.

Where Do You Expect GT to Finish Next Year? 50th Is Reasonable.

What's the secret to getting these things to roll? I'm shaking the crap out of my iPad Air and nothing's happening! But to answer the original question, I'd say 37. If it weren't for a fairly easy schedule, I would say 50 is about right.

It's about that time of year again

The checks were stipend checks for rent. The NCAA allows players to live off campus in "comparable" housing and the institution is allowed to pay that rent. That's what these checks are and why the amounts are the same. There really is no argument that this is a problem at UGA. However, in...

ESPN list of 5 make or break coaches for 2014 (CPJ mentioned)

I didn't mean to imply that it had. I believe our defense has been subpar and that has been the primary root of our mediocre records. But I don't find the offense blameless either because there have been games that it has been the culprit when we have lost. That's what I was trying to point...

Your original statement was: Besides being snide and condescending, your statement implies that our offense hasn't been the problem with our record over the last few years. Of our 6 losses last year, I pointed out that 2 of them were games in which the offense played really poorly and yes...

Just curious, but did YOU watch the VT game last year? Yes, the defense had been the more predominant issue overall but we have certainly had games where we lost because the offense couldn't score. The bowl game versus Ole Miss is another example.

We are 2 games over 500 in the past 4 years against ACC competition, which has been horrendous on the national scale over that 4 years. Is that what you would call "winning"?

A couple of things: 1) They run a much simpler to teach read-option scheme. In most cases, the QB is making a simple read based off the DE only and he's also doing it 4 to 5 yards deep in the backfield. So he has time to watch the play develop for almost a full second before he has to make...

Based on what? People said the same thing in CPJ's first year and he won that one. We haven't won since, even when they had a QB starting his first game against us this past year. But the point is still valid...we won in the first year of CPJ's system; why shouldn't we have the same chance of...

    Coaches we interviewed in 2007

I'm sorry, but this simply isn't true. It should be pointed out what we really did: CPJ has been given the ability to recruit MORE THAN FIVE exceptions per year; whereas, previously there was a hard limit of 5 exceptions per year. However, CPJ mentioned at signing day this year and in 2013 (in...

28 - 25 over the past 4 years? Honestly, yeah, he should be.

    Coaches we interviewed in 2007

I would think that the statement is true. But it doesn't portend that Johnson had a secret wish to become the GT head coach; only that he wanted to become the head coach at a major-level D1 program. He wanted to: a) make more money but more importantly b) prove that his system works in a BCS...

    Great interview with CPJ

Guys could take remedial classes under Ross and O'Leary. I have no insider knowledge regarding Ross but I have spoken to many of the players during O'Leary's term, including a few of the ones who have told me point blank, "I'd never be admitted under today's standards". As I've posted before...

    Calvin Johnson article

I was looking for something on Google and accidentally came across this article on Calvin Johnson. It's from a couple of years ago but the article is outstanding. I apologize if this has been posted before but I hadn't read it, so I thought I'd post the link in case others hadn't as well. Link

    Great interview with CPJ

I guess I'm kind of a mid-timer, not a new guy or a strict old-timer. I'm 47 years old so I do remember. But here's what needs to be pointed out: - Gailey started at GT in 2002. APR started in 2004 - As 33Jacket stated, Flunkgate happened under Gailey but it had zero to do with APR. -...

    Great interview with CPJ

Au contraire, my friend. APR was in effect when Gailey was here because it started in 2004. It didn't stop him from recruiting Calvin Johnson, Demaryius Thomas, Michael Johnson, Darryl Richardson, Morgan Burnett, Jonathan Dwyer, Vance Walker, etc. Although I agree with you that the...
