  1. Why isn't GT playing this weekend?

I think that the way the year ended left everyone in a "Mild Cat" state of mind. Looking forward to basketball like Kentucky usually does. Just as well that we do not have that 12th game for this weekend as the time can better be put to good use recruiting and laying the groundwork for better...
  2. Biggest issue to fix, going into next season

This is an interesting proposition: You are asking what "needs fixed the most". Trouble is, the way this team finished the year you can make a credible case for all three phases of the team because each was outstanding (in a bad way) during the year. I am going to go with the defense...
  3. Football Study Hall on "Coaches who aren't good enough"

"The fault, dear Brutus, lies not in the stars but in ourselves." Unless of course, the Bard is talking about four and five star wide receivers, running backs, or defensive linemen.
  4. Roof

Not surprised. Tech alumni are notoriously tight with their money. My father would squeeze a nickle so hard that it would come out a quarter. My brother in law made my sister drive a car so long and so hard that it was valued at less than $500 when they towed it in. You are not telling me...
  5. CPJ needs to be fired

If we have to make a coaching change this year, chaos of any kind will be the least of our worries.
  6. CPJ needs to be fired

I agree that they are putting the best available player, if you are talking about quarterback, but our problems on offense go much deeper than a quick fix by changing the quarterback. If only it were so simple.
  7. Roof

Good question. I guess it depends on who you ask. Coach Johnson is pretty adamant about the lack of resources. Personally, I don't think the school is not, as you put it, "all in". I don't think the school administration is even partially "in" much less "all in". Don't seem to be at any rate.
  8. Have to Step Up!!

All of them will have to devote a lot of time and effort to get stronger and quicker if they are to silence the critics and naysayers. I wish them the best but personally concerning this unit I am from Missouri "show me".
  9. CPJ needs to be fired

Very good point. It should be noted that if we are facing teams that are running 7 and 8 man fronts with multiple linebackers waiting for our A backs on the outside, the pitch is not going to be there. I would like to be hopeful for the immediate future but I do not see improvement on offense...

I tried that too and ended up sleeping on the couch. Things that work on the internet are just a waste of time in dealing with spouses.
  11. Football Study Hall on "Coaches who aren't good enough"

Yep that's what I was trying to get across. It simply does not care. If they do not care enough to nurture the football program why should fans support it? I see this situation spiraling slowly downward to where Georgia Tech becomes another nonentity like Tulane, Vanderbilt etc. That is...
  12. Football Study Hall on "Coaches who aren't good enough"

This is our situation in a nutshell. The problem is the Institute and the people there who seem to honestly believe we can be the Ivy League during the week and Alabama on Saturday. Wholesale changes must be made in support for our program by the administration in curriculum, monetary support...
  13. A question for ex players or serious fans

The talent gap is larger at some positions i.e. defensive line less so at others such as B back but it exists and there is a significant talent gap across the board between us and our major rivals: UGA, Miami, Virginia Tech, and Clemson not so much with the rest of the ACC. IMHO
  14. CPJ needs to be fired

It is more of a "Georgia Tech problem" than it is a coaching problem. Change coaches all you want but until that is addressed you will have more of the same. IMHO
  15. CPJ needs to be fired

So am I but our problems are not fixed by firing the coach. Until something is done to level the playing field regarding recruiting changing coaches will not matter. Recruiting and the inherent problems caused by the Hill are the major reason for coaches as varied as Dodd to Ross to O'Leary...
  16. Two big problems going forward

I am glad that changes will be made. The problem is that Bear Bryant in his prime would not be able to get much more out of this bunch. The problem is not in the coaches as much as it is in the players. If our recruiting does not improve markedly, we are headed for mediocrity or worse...
  17. A question for ex players or serious fans

You are correct, they did not care much one way or the other because they know or believe there will be no consequences for their attitude or behavior. Some people need to be encouraged, like right now, to consider other shall we say future opportunities in collegiate athletics at the...
  18. A question for ex players or serious fans

I don't pretend to be an expert, but to me it all goes back to recruiting. We cannot recruit consistently enough to be successful in a power conference. We have a serious talent deficiency at wide receiver, defensive line, linebacker and corners. What we saw Saturday is a harbinger of what is...
  19. Saturday, November 25, 2017 UGa vs GT Prediction Time:

Personally, based upon what I saw last Saturday and the post game press conference I don't think it will be close. UGA by 3 touchdowns. Could easily be wrong. It would be just like Tech to lose by 3 touchdowns to a Duke team that just lost to Army and turn around the next week and beat an 11...
  20. Happy Thanksgiving To All The Posters On The GT Swarm Message Board!

I did not go to the Institute but damn right it has instant "cred" and not just in the engineering world. My brother in law had a double E degree and was sent overseas doing something for NSA. He never would tell me of course but he did say that someone in the Middle East asked him where he...
