  1. Next year?

I agree that the HC owns the product, but you do leave out one important element, GTAA only gave Johnson money for one extra payroll person for recruiting. By comparison, UGA has had 7 for years. GTAA tried to skimp by pinching pennies. To Bobinski's credit he has increased the staff to...
  2. Next year?

Is he academically qualified for the Orange Bowl? Anyone know?
  3. Next year?

Off the 12/2 defensive two-deep depth chart we lose these seniors for next season: Green, Travis, Nealy, McNair and Johnson. Four starters. On offense: Days, Laskey, Perkins, Bostic, Zenon, Hill, Waller, Dennis and Mason. Smelter was not on that chart. We were really a young team this season.
  4. One of my long held offensive thoughts in question now

Agree. And he can start with the practice sessions for the bowl game. He needs to build a confidence factor with the younger receivers, say Summers, Juene and Messick.
  5. GT - Miss St Orange Bowl

We played the # 3 team last night and get the # 7 team in the bowl. Valuable measuring stick. I had rather play the # 7 team than the # 8, in particular when it is from the big bad SEC.
  6. GT-FSU Postgame thread

Just lost to a 29 and 0 team.
  7. USC Upstate game thread

From ramblinwreck.com ----- FWIW "Tech's victories over Rhode Island and Northwestern caused a jump of more than 100 spots in the various RPI rankings, lifting the Yellow Jackets into the top 50 from No. 156 in both the CBSSports.com and ESPN RPI rankings. The Rams were 29th in the...
  8. Extension Agreement

The coaches GT has had in the last 47 years have, except for Johnson, been coaches who saw the GT job as a way station on the road to a better place. Johnson, I believe from reading his comments, considers GT as his final home. I hope I am correct. No, I pray I am correct!
  9. Northwestern Game Thread

PG play - from ramblinwreck.com game notes: "Tech point guards Travis Jorgenson (5 assists, 1 turnover) and Josh Heath (5 assists, no turnovers) combined for 10 assists and one turnover. For the season they have a combined 3-to-1 assist/turnover ratio. Heath logged his third zero-turnover...
  10. CFP: new conspiracy theory

Because the people who picked the committee did not know their you know what from a hole in the ground. The committee they picked has the same characteristic.
  11. Most improved player?

At the start of the year Joe was just a name on the roster, now he gets his minutes. But my vote goes to Chamberlain. At the start of the year most of us were trying to find a way to keep him out of the lineup. Now we do not want to play unless he shows up.
  12. Ted Roof

Yeah. Remember had a top DC job with a friend at Penn State and HE called Johnson, Johnson did not call him, all because he wanted to come home. I trust GT will pay him what he has earned and allow him to pay his staff to keep them intact. Continuity is a big deal.
  13. Season of redemption for Paul Johnson

Looks like you need to keep your day job bud.
  14. CPJ is ACC Coach of the Year

A few highlights from ramblinwreck.com: "It is the third time Johnson has been named ACC Coach of the Year (2008, 2009). He was the first coach in ACC history to be named Coach of the Year in each of his first two seasons. Johnson is one of four Georgia Tech coaches to be named ACC Coach of...
  15. All ACC Team

The best running team in the conference having no one on the OL as 1st team is a major joke. But as noted above, the ACC press is dominated by the North Carolina press. Has been for decades.
  16. Ted Roof

Roof said he returned to Tech because he wanted to return home. Home ain't Auburn. AL.
  17. Let's get ready for FSU

If you can't get up for playing the defending and undefeated national champs, you got no blood.
  18. Extension Agreement

    From ramblingwreck.com: "The Jackets clinched their ninth 10-win season in program history – 1928 (10-0), 1947 (10-1), 1951 (11-0-1), 1952 (12-0), 1956 (10-1), 1990 (11-0-1), 1998 (10-2), and 2009 (11-3). It is also the Jackets’ fourth 10-win season of the ACC era." Just for the record.
  19. Extension Agreement

GT has had nine 10 win seasons in it's entire football history: 1928 (10-0), 1947 (10-1), 1951 (11-0-1), 1952 (12-0), 1956 (10-1), 1990 (11-0-1), 1998 (10-2), 2009 (11-3) and 2014 (10-2). Two of the nine belong to Johnson. He is one of the most successful coaches in GT history. Why would you...
  20. 2014-2015 Coaching Carousel

Pelini has a record in 7 years of 67 - 27. Why would they even interview a coach with a 7 year record of 57 - 34? Just asking.
