  1. ACC to play 10-game conference-only schedule for the 2020 season.

This is almost 100% inaccurate. As of tonight here are the US numbers (some of the states numbers are considerably worse than these) Between 75-90% of the increase in cases is due to increased spread, not increased testing. Since June 10th, 7 day avg cases have increased 171%, 7 day avg testing...

  3. The ACC will delay the start of competition for all fall sports until at least Sept. 1

Just as an FYI, the state of NM has cancelled HS football for this fall. Also, thought this was an interesting read - as the NFL gets closer to the season it is looking like they could have a little bit of an MLB style negotiation issue coming up...

  6. ACC to play 10-game conference-only schedule for the 2020 season.

First off I agree with this from a distance standpoint. Second, I simply see this as a first step by the conferences to save whatever of the season they can. To me this is the conferences waving the white flag and saying we don't think we can play a full season so this is now what we are going...
  7. ACC to play 10-game conference-only schedule for the 2020 season.

According to a tweet by Nicole Auerbach PAC12 is also expected to go to a conference only schedule if they are able to play football this fall. It feels like it is only a matter of time before all P5 conferences publicly announce that. Hopefully all we lose are the OOC games.

FWIW, I think my fav comment i've seen today explaning how things happened has to do with this. It didn't matter when you re-opened, what mattered is what you did while you were closed and what your plan was when you re-opened. If you re-opened and didn't really have good plans in place, didn't...
  10. The ACC will delay the start of competition for all fall sports until at least Sept. 1

Back to articles. Sports Illustrated has had great articles on all of this the last few months. This one on how Stanford's decision could affect other schools and what not having football or a reduced season could mean...
  11. The ACC will delay the start of competition for all fall sports until at least Sept. 1

That's incorrect 78. On June 12th, the national positive test % was 4.4%. If 100% of the increase was due to increase in testing then the testing rate would not increase even 0.1%. Instead as of yesterday it is at a 8.1% - an 84% increase. That gives you an idea of how much is due to increased...

  13. The ACC will delay the start of competition for all fall sports until at least Sept. 1

One other thing to keep in mind. It won't be the number of deaths that make this decision (unless they skyrocket out of control which I don't expect), it will be the number of cases and hospitalizations. If cases and hospitalizations are still increasing in 3 weeks then I think college football...
  14. The ACC will delay the start of competition for all fall sports until at least Sept. 1

Keep in mind that not every state is requiring universities to report positive COVID cases. also, due to HIPAA it is unlikely any schools will report wether anyone had to go to the hospital - that is not in their best interest right now. Notice how vague colleges have already gotten in...
  15. The ACC will delay the start of competition for all fall sports until at least Sept. 1

First let's talk about the death rate - and I assume what you really mean is the mortality rate. The Gu model currently estimates the mortality rate at 0.3%. That's good as that is down from the previous 0.5%. But, if your cases are increasing then that eventually overwhelms the lower mortality...

Unfortunately right now there are no positive numbers for the US. Even deaths have started rising. Deaths flattened out last week - from Tuesday through Friday the 7 day avg was between 527-530. It dipped over the weekend due to low reporting. but it has shot back up this week. As of yesterday...

We have to re-open schools, but we do need a plan which we currently don't have from a national standpoint. It's pretty clear already that some states are not going to be able to open schools on time. It's also clear that there is going to have to be a variety of out of the box thinking in...

The TV contracts are with the conferences not with the schools. All the TV money is distributed to the conference and then the conference distributes the money to the schools based on whatever agreements they have with the schools (which in the case of all the conferences is equal payments to...
