  1. 2015 B-Back Inexperience

In the years of CPJ when has the BB been bad? JD, Ant, all had to adapt to the role. IMHO opinion We have deeper skills at that position now than ever before. Will we be as good in 2015 as in 2014 maybe not but with the OL we have we should be. The ND game in S. Bend is going to be a real...
  2. 5 guys you will be watching close in Spring Practice?

I agree. Snoddy status is of great interest as are Back up QB progress, perimeter blocking progress, holding on to the ball progress, catching passes progress, Kallon,
  3. GT Vs Georgia Southern

Samford 7 Auburn 0 Tigers make 6 errors. Baseball can be crazy.
  4. GT Vs Georgia Southern

Coastal Carolina 13 Tar Holes 2. We now need to take series in Durham this weekend.
  5. Kel Johnson

There big slugger Biggio didn't make a difference.
  6. What's a Practice Like? (see Duke Spring Practice on ESPN3)

They get a lot done in efficient manner. I have only watched first 20 to 30 minutes. To be effective there needs to be coaching up. So far seems too fast paced to do a lot. I am guessing there is film made to use later to point out mistakes and teach corrections
  7. 2014 offense retained 40% of 2013 offense

Hill was certainly a big drop off. Hardly anyone was a reliable receiver, at A back or WR.. I believe also we have greater potential at WR this year. We showed we could do well if another WR steps up as Waller did. It may take the first three games like in 2014 but believe we will find the...
  8. A few interesting notes over at Navy

Back in the 50s and 60s didn't major colleges have ties to prep schools to prepare incoming freshman athletes academically while playing athletics at a higher than high school level. Seems I remember Auburn with ties to Baylor prep in Chattanooga. Also thought Gordon military may have had some...
  9. 2014 vs 2009, offensive comparison

We all know the offense has not been the problem. The D is what is holding us back. Last 5 games of 2014 seem to be the light at the end of the tunnel on D. Improved DC, some great potential red shirted and some great potential recruited D players. If the turn overs were made last year...
  10. Morning Runs Started Today

How is his first weeks at the academics? It can be a difficult adjustment for many.
  11. 2014 offense retained 40% of 2013 offense

over the week end I looked at the first two games of last year. It looked like only 40 % of prior year returned. Hard to believe that the same team ended up in the top 10 in the nation from looking at the replay. of those two games.
  12. Spring Practice Who to watch for?

Welcome to the board. Being an Early Enrollee will certainly help. B Back is up for grabs. I would be interested in when they start working on the QB/BB exchange since that is so critical. I doubt that it is a slam- dunk type of learning curve. I am guessing they may do some of this on...
  13. 2014 offense retained 40% of 2013 offense

"The offense will need contributions from many to meet Johnson's expectations. Stars who accounted for more than 60 percent of the Yellow Jackets' yards, including three of the top-four rushers, and more than half their points in 2013 are no longer at Georgia Tech." JT5 biggest factor replacing...
  14. CPJ's learning curve at GT

Thought about a separate thread but believe my question fits in this discussion. After the winning the ACC championship in 2009 what were positives /negatives being chatted, about moving forward into 2010 as compared to where we are now moving into 2015 after a great 2014? If IIRC it seemed...
  15. Cannot believe how bad this offense looked in 2009

Always going to difficult to find a great running AND passing QB for this offense. But a JN or TW with a great arm will make this O as dangerous as JT5 makes it. The ability to pass makes it a killer O.
  16. Senior Appreciation Synjyn Days #10, RS SR, Became a Jacket on 8/28/09

Great write up Bruce Wayne. The character of this young man seems to be the character of this team or the team a reflection of his character. If our staff can continue to fill the slots with young men of this kind of character and skill, then football season at Georgia Tech is going to be so...
  17. Homecoming, White Out, 1990 celebration dates

Alcorn State may not be a push over. Lost 3, in 2014 by 6 to Miss Southern, 7 to Grambling, 3 to Jackson State. Looks like they have a productive offense. 3 of the 4 top players return, QB, Gibbs completed 189-of-324 passes for a total of 2482 yards and threw 21 touchdowns. He also led the...
  18. Do you believe in miracles?

Weren't the Duke UNC games during Mid Terms. I have long thought that Mid terms affect focus on football and have a direct influence on focus of the team in preparation for a game. I would like to hear from some lettermen as to whether this is true or not. Seems to me it would affect film...
  19. Snoddy looking good in weight room

Maybe more of a mental issue than physical.
  20. Do you believe in miracles?

I like what you say but "LUCK" will always matter. However, as you point out, extra skill and depth of one team over the other can off set the "LUCK" factor. But because of factors unique to Georgia Tech's academic restraints, it is difficult and will always be difficult for us to have the extra...
