On that note, I want to say how glad I am for this forum. When snoddy broke his leg I was watching an online feed which was a few seconds behind the TV broadcast. The board started going bananas saying don't watch the replay don't watch the replay and I was able to turn it off and fortunately...
Iirc, a wr missed a block and Cottrell got his knee rolled up on. I'll also admit that for whatever reason it matters to me, too. I worry about guys whose joints tend to give for seemingly no reason as opposed to somebody who takes a hit on the joint
Oh, agreed. I think he'll end up being a good A-back. The question is whether he becomes the fearsome weapon on the perimeter that puts such a scare into defenses that he opens up everything else.
FWIW, the DL should be bigger than it's been in a while, no? Surge is 295, Gamble is 277, Freeman is 250, and if Branch starts at 270, that's actually not TERRIBLE size. I mean, it's not a huge line, but it's not a tiny line, either.
What is maintenance calories for 386? Like 4000 a day?
HOLY LMFAO. I went into an online calculator to check, and when I hit enter, it said "please enter a valid weight". Apparently the machine doesn't believe that 386 is a real weight.
Cottrell at 193 (and grew an inch)
Branch at 6'3 270 (really good size for a SDE) (any chance he starts?)
Devine...smh
Howell and Philpott both right around 6'3 220
Has gray always been 215 at safety? Are we looking at a guy who grows into a lightning fast LB?
The question is if he's ever that guy again. Yes, sports medicine is light years ahead of where it was even 15 years ago, but it's still an ACL, and some guys still lose that extra pop that turns a fast guy into a "high school nathan cottrell" afterburner type.
It's still ANOTHER question...
It seems to me that if everybody stays healthy, this is most talented group since Dwyer/Jones/Allen.
You've got speed burners all over the place (cottrell/benson/Marshall/green), you've got thumpers in Leggett and Q. It all depends on how they develop. That said, if Marshall makes "normal"...
I'll agree that you guys should probably be scheming to your talent, and perhaps running a Rocky Long style 335 or something because you just don't have enough good DL's, and you've had plenty of good enough DB's.
Do we expect JJ Green to come in and immediately compete for a starting slot? Any word on how he looks last year while redshirting?
Also, freaking Benson is a big boy.
So, my "recruit to the scheme" argument doesn't work on defense. You guys do not play a particularly unique defensive scheme, so if your recruiting has taken a dip on defense, and that dip can be isolated from outside factors (APR kicked in in 2005, correct?), then the "recruiting sucks" folks...
So, it's a two part question, I think. I think that Swinney could recruit "better". That is to say, I believe he could have higher rated recruiting classes according to ESPN and Scout. I don't know if he could recruit better, which is to say I don't know if he could produce better results with...
