Does anyone know whether the football program does exit interviews or otherwise collects data as to “why” our players leave via the exit portal? Players who are not playing, I get, as they are looking for PT elsewhere or looking for a way to quit football without looking like they are quitting...
In this day and age, there are fewer and fewer “hidden gems” in any sport, football included. Maybe CGC has had extraordinary success with his limited recruiting budget, but usually “top talent” is evidenced by ratings from recruiting services and offers from power teams. CGC may be bringing...
The post-game press conferences should be more revealing this year. Faced with the likely conclusion that TStan can’t save him with a dismal record in 2022, if Collins resorts to his usual “elite” play, “getting better every day” “touchy-freely” coaching style BS after losses, I think he is a...
Maybe Collins needs someone on staff who knows what measurables the NFL is looking for at various positions, so players can be recruited for, and assigned to, the positions they might play, if they make it to the pros. Just a thought.
I sure hope Collins pulls the proverbial rabbit out of his hat this fall, that Tech is the P5 “surprise team of the year” and that we can all start feeling good about life again.
Many have postulated the coming realignment of football that may result in a “super-conference” of the big, monied programs. If that occurs, the super-conference will be a semi-pro league, with NIL and big TV contracts. Then, there will be the rest of the colleges and universities. Some of...
I want wins, of course, but what I want more than that is to watch a team that passes the “eye” test. I want to see a team that is focused and that plays fundamentally-sound football. I am tired of seeing players dancing on the sidelines while we are getting trashed on the field. I want to see...
If the other teams have good coaches, they will make sure their teams know that if our coaches can devise good game plans and get our players up to play, we could be competitive. There are few head coaches who will have their teams unprepared and who take the other team lightly…
Sorry, but I disagree that Collins’ only failure has been with the selection of his subordinates (coaches), even though that is a major function of being a head coach (or any manager). He has amply demonstrated (and been excoriated for) game mismanagement, a tone-deaf attitude to the fan base...
If we go from a more experienced team to a less experienced one AND show marked improvement in the W/L column this fall, it would point strongly to the recent changes in the coaching staff. The question then would be how much MORE improvement we might have had with one more coaching change..
