Great series win. Now let's get the sweep! There are only 2 teams in the ACC right now that have not either swept a team or been swept - GT and ND. ND split their first 2 with NC State, so it's up to us to make that 1 team!
And that he did. I was there. A lot of hard hit fly balls with the wind blowing across the field that went no where except into a GT outfielder's mitt!
Supposedly, the committee isn't looking at regional matchups anymore for the Supers. They rank teams 1 through 16 and let the Super Regional matchups fall where they may. So they claim.
We should have more depth than we do. If we had Archer...
Hughes has pitched well, but has struggled at times. Gibson is in his own head. Has great stuff and has pitched well at times, but can't put it all together. Lee can shut a team down for 5 or 6 innings, but can also give up 10 runs...
Not sure the winner of a mid-week series will make that much of a difference for a Super Regional bid. That will be decided by SEC and ACC conference games, and conference tournament performance, in my opinion. Still want to beat them down though.
Hoping Hurter is OK, but not counting on it...
www.wrek.org. Go to Listen-Archive, and then click on the Day and time you want to listen to. Will probably be in the 5 pm to 6 pm hour on Saturday. Don't recall when it ended. I've only been able to find the archive until it's replaced a week later.
I suspect that this is a roster decision to bring in more pitching for today after a lot of bullpen innings yesterday. Toussaint wouldn't be available to pitch again for a few days, he has options, and the Braves need pitchers for today. I imagine that he'll be back up when he's eligible to be...
Duke now up 8-3 in the 5th. Clemson has lost 6 straight and 7/8. Rooting for Clemson to win this one so that they're not as mad when we see them, and to keep Duke further behind us in the division. Although, perhaps having Clemson come in with a 7 game conference losing streak will put more...
Clemson will not be ranked next week. Lost first 2 at home against Duke and losing the 3rd today in the 4th. RPI now in the 30's. It has now become a must win series versus a nice to win series.
Actually, 18th ACC Championship to tie us with Wake, if I'm not mistaken. 10 out of the last 14. Unless the RamblinWreck.com article is wrong, which it very well could be.
Virginia Tech has a 45 RPI, even after this weekend. So, they are a pretty solid team according to the RPI. Beating them in a series on the road, in poor weather, and on plastic is a significant series win.
Clemson has now lost 6 in a row. A game left tomorrow against Duke and then 2 mid week games. This is now a must win series, as opposed to a nice to win series against a highly rated team earlier in the season.
Glad your drive back home will be better than mine from Louisville. We did win 2/3 in that series, but the ending was disappointing. You pulled us through this one!
Did I just hear Wiley correctly that VT has used 14 pitchers to throw 17-1/3 innings today? Or has the Bourbon finally impacted my hearing comprehension?
UNC pulled out a win vs BC in 11. Miami losing to LOU 9-6 in the 9th. Duke beating Clemson 5-1 in the 9th. Clemson won't be happy next weekend. We need to be on our A game.
