  1. Official GT announcement, OC and DC

Neither one is going to be a standard drop back passer. They both need the right offense to be successful. I think as long as both are part of a passing game that is triggered off of play action and option looks they could probably be successful. If they are asked to sit back and make a...
  2. Official GT announcement, OC and DC

As long as we don't go full on Gailey.
  3. Official GT announcement, OC and DC

Pitt is probably a decent comparison too. Clemson maybe with Lawrence, not with Bryant. There's probably 5-6 teams that look pretty similar. In my opinion it depends on what type of QB they recruit going forward. True dual threat or a passer who can run a little.
  4. Official GT announcement, OC and DC

Off the cuff NC State may be the closest.
  5. OC Hire

The only reason competition would dictate not running the QB is if you aren't athletic enough at the position to be a real threat relative to the competition, which is what they were at Temple. We will see what happens here. Do they recruit true dual threats or do they try to recruit passers who...
  6. Official GT announcement, OC and DC

I don't know if it will happen next year, but I will be willing to bet by year three we are about 50/50 run/pass (I would say at best 55% run). That's what Patenaude did at CC, that's what he did at Temple. That's fine, his offenses are decent. Not the worst, not the best.
  7. Official GT announcement, OC and DC

Typical uninspired NCAA offense. Doesn't mean it can't be good, but nothing new different there. I think what will happen at GT is that we will probably go away from favoring running over passing in a QB so heavily to favoring passing over running pretty heavily and we will end up with guys who...
  8. OC Hire

Thacker may be ok. Patenaude, meh. Not impressed, but we will see.
  9. CPJ on ESPN Film Room

Mack just talks too much... CPJ was very good although snarky. Did a great job of representing GT with the gear.
  10. Bowl game Uni.... some will need a suicide watch

I like them. Will like them more if GT wins.
  11. CGC...Break the silent treatment: HC & DC

He didn't have 1 week, he has two months. It's not like he can't sign someone in Feb.
  12. McCollum

I personally think this was the right move, hate it for the staff, but this is all on Geoff now. We'll see how it goes.
  13. What I'll miss about Tech football … and what I hope to see

Agreed. CPJ never had issues with wes either. I think it was a combination of PJ losing all interest and frankly Demetra isn't that good.
  14. OC Hire

Not for OC it shouldn't be. It's not like we can't get a really good OC that can also recruit. Do you guys actually think tech can stockpile talent that would be good enough to overcome poor coaching? Yes, we need a talent upgrade, but we still need really good coaching to be successful here.
  15. OC Hire

I don't understand why this seems to be a prevailing opinion. We will never recruit good enough to overcome a bad OC. Now, you could argue whether Tee is bad I guess, but I personally would rather get an OC who is first and foremost a really good OC. It's not all recruiting - we have to develop...
  16. OC Hire

Nope. Not a good OC. Recruiting coordinator maybe.
  17. CGC at ATL United game (interview)

This change was needed for GT. I am glad CGC is on the town talking about GT. Ready to see his pick for OC. For once, I am optimistic about the defense (of course I thought Woody was a good hire too and he couldn't fix the defense in a year). I don't expect much from this team in the next two...
  18. Anyone else just really happy?

6 DCs? Hmmm, your one of those huh? Johnson had the pick of players first? What a crock of ****. Almost all of the players who played offense were specifically told they would play offense and vice versa. There's probably as many examples of players who could have been on offense who went to the...
  19. Clemson

I guess you went to school when the rivalry took a break. GT has played Clemson 83 times. Most of the other ACC schools (including Coastal) have played GT around half that. I consider them to be a rival.
  20. “I got out” bad for recruiting

I won't. It is a point of pride that football players can use if they own it. I personally don't believe it has that much of an impact regardless of TStan. You can't have both - a prestigious education and an easy one. To be fair, I never use the term, but the point remains.
