I should have worded that differently. He's obviously a great athlete and a really good runner. When dropping back to pass (I know, small sample size) he looked awkward and not like a division 1 QB.
I think it's funny how Byerly gets a pass for the fumbles. If JT was playing people would be blasting him because of his ball security issues.
However, I was impressed with Byerly. He looked like a real QB back there. The 3rd and 15 throw and the slant route were nice to see. He put some zip on...
Of course he did. It's because we were throwing on 1st and 2nd down and in obvious running situations under center. We were in the pistol formation a majority of the time in obvious passing situations and 3rd and long situations.
But the formation is basically irrelevant. If we can't block it...
I disagree. A week ago JT was the starter. No ifs ands or buts about it. Then TB lit up the 2nd string defense and now half the fan base thinks TB should be starting on August 30th. If JT kills it, everyone will be breaking their ankles jumping off the TB bandwagon and on JT's.
I really don't...
Agree but I think sometimes what one individual talent can do in certain moments trumps the overall statistics of a group. I just look back at individual performances that RG had and think, could we have won certain games without Godhigh? UNC in 2012 and 2013? Pitt? Think about the big runs he...
Orwin was "the guy" at AB while Roddy was still here. Robbie was a difference maker in 2012 while Orwin was still here. We knew Robbie was a baller before the 2013 season. This is a different situation. We don't have anyone that has proven themselves over the course of the season as a playmaker...
I don't see how we can lose the best AB we've had and bring back a bunch of guys who haven't proven anything more than a handful of plays and be better. I think Andrews has the most promise but the rest of the guys are pretty suspect with the ball in their hands. Days is a great blocker but I'm...
A few weeks ago, PJ said in an interview that there were going to be changes or tweaks to the offense (can't exactly remember the wording) and that the average Georgia Tech fan would definitely notice it. Do you think it's the hurry up, no huddle package that was seen in the scrimmage?
Agree. There's enough talent to win some games but we need some of these young guys (JT, Devine, Custis, Commisiong) to pan out and live up to their hype if we want to be anything more than a 6-8 win team and start winning games against the big boys on our schedule.
I don't have an issue with TB. But people just need to pump the brakes. Last season, his playing time consisted of 4th quarters against FCS opponents, one drive in a game when we were up 56-0 against Syracuse (he didn't exactly come in and light it up, the drive ended in a punt) and the last...
I guess time will tell. TB has looked good against 3rd and 4th string players the last year or so. We'll see how good he is if he starts against VT or Miami.
Actually, JT had two long runs against Syracuse, one a TD and another inside the five that set up a TD. I'll take JT with his body of work (BYU, Syracuse and Clemson) over a guy who's had one good drive in his career.
A game where we're losing by 20+ in the final minute and Miami is playing their walk-ons is a limited sample size. From what I saw, JT looked better against Syracuse, BYU and Clemson than Byerly did all year. But maybe TB has surpassed him this year. I'd be shocked.
