Yep--the man has been a revelation. His history/record before was a hint to this but the last half of season has been a breakout into all-conf level and the key to our improvement...A triple double from a Ctr! Several double/doubles.You can see the confidence in play as a SR (same with Terry)...
I must be dreaming.I checked the game results and was amazed. Those stats were CRAZY.A triple -double guy ,3 pt %, asst/TOs , and an AWAY game. Probably too little too late with the thin bench but much better than not.Just wow.
When Key made the comment about now scrimmaging during week, I knew he was serious and the culture was going to change. AND--that Spring "game " touch football crap was a great example of that.
Some teams have a "less -strong "punter specialist (if your main puntter is too strong--hmmmm) to pooch the ball down to about ten yd line or so.The main skill is kicking it high about 35 yds-gives the PR the chance to fumble ball and gives our coverers time to get down. Its not rocketscience.
I'm sorry but but Javon looked like a keeper from the start--much quicker and skilled than Howard. Why JP couldn't see this I don't know since he was very capable at S.Ala. Howard has always been the classic backup CTr.Come in for short spurts with energy to bang and clog middle. oh,well better...
I'm not sure how you do 2 fball jobs well .with STs being one.You MIGHT be get away with it if you have a bunch of returnees. STs is too important to just hand-over to "another coach".
Interesting you mention the Princeton offense.I watched Air Force ( 7-14) play vs their league leaders (17-7) and run the Princeton Off.They (AF) got more backdoor cut baskets in 3 minutes than we get in a whole game. Just weak coaching by JP. Do better with it or go to something else.
