  1. Rational Off-season Discussion Thread

I think we need to look for a transfer or JuCo guy to shore up our OLine this off-season. We really are hurting for depth.
  2. Roof

Didn't the AD just extend Ted Roof and give him a raise a few weeks ago? If Roof is fired Todd Stansbury will look very dumb. We could have walked away from his contract in a month's time for nothing.
  3. State of program

There were a couple of rough years there, but our special teams have been pretty good generally under Paul Johnson and I like that we aren't afraid to use trick plays. Ryan Rodwell, Sean Poole, and Scott Blair were all good specialists. Jamal Golden was a pretty great returner. Our return game...
  4. UGA preparation

It's how they are teaching it. For example lots of us alums are really bright and hard working, but we struggled with classes at tech where the professor was confusing or not clear about the material. Compounded with the 'drinking from a fire hose' analogy, stuff that should not be super hard...
  5. UGA preparation

I wonder if practice is on complete lockdown after the spy situation last year.
  6. UGA preparation

We have pretty decent facilities, besides the locker room. We had an indoor practice facility before Miami and Clemson and our meeting rooms are legitimately nice. We need to invest in people not infrastructure. CPJ is right and has been basically begging for staff, so I see no problem with him...
  7. State of program

    It was Duke.
  8. In this thread: I face facts about Ted Roof

We also have to face the prospect that this is the best the defense will be for at least two years as far as talent goes. Next year will be a backslide with us losing Freeman, Simmons, and 4/5 of the secondary as well as some depth guys over there. This was his 5th year class with experience...
  9. State of program

The rest of the ACC was absolutely awful during that period as well.
  10. Coaching staff contracts

Thanks for posting, I clearly missed that article. I would guess this means we aren't going to let Teddy walk after this year, but who knows. $800,000 is a lot to invest in a coach. If Charles Kelly gets fired that would put Roof behind only Venables, Sirmon, and Foster next season in the...
  11. Coaching staff contracts

Randy Shannon will be available this year, but he's had so many run-ins with the NCAA that I don't know how much Tech will consider him. Bob Diaco will likely be available after Nebraska cleans house, and depending on what Texas A&M does John Chavis may be available as well. I'm sure there are...
  12. State of program

I'm a huge CPJ supporter, but if we miss bowls twice in three years he will rightfully be on the hot seat next year.
  13. State of program

One of the biggest issues on defense that we've had the past few years is fundamentals. We have no idea how to tackle properly. We have guys who also don't seem to know their assignment from time to time or take proper angles. That is 0% talent and 100% on coaching. Anyone can be taught proper...
  14. If you don't think

Probably somewhere in the middle. I'm old and it's going to be cold. I won't be the guy yelling at the younger kids to sit down, but I might have to take a seat for most of the game.
  15. If you don't think

I'll show up if the team will.
  16. Coaching staff contracts

Roof signed a new 3 year contract after the 2014 season at $750,000 a year expiring after the 2017 season. Paul Johnson signed a 4 year extension after the 2014 season making his contract through 2020 at just over $3million a year. $3million buyout currently and it drops $1million next year etc.
  17. Football Budget - Yes, it absolutely matters

http://www.greenvilleonline.com/story/sports/college/2015/01/30/clemson-among-top-recruiting-spenders-usc-much/22603511/ From '09-'13 we spent the 4th most on recruiting (in FBS) and spent more than UGA. Even if we added another $500,000 to recruiting staff and travel budget we still wouldn't...
  18. State of program

I'll answer the question posed in the title: Offense is an upward trajectory. We need to figure out the QB situation and I would like to see some coaching changes on the OLine. We return everyone except Ricky, JJ, and Shamire. We'll hopefully have Andrew Marshall back healthy and the freshmen...
  19. Football Budget - Yes, it absolutely matters

Yeah I'm going to go with the tuition difference is making this list seem like it is something it really isn't. That being said, we should invest more in our program but this isn't really good evidence that we're destitute or anything.
  20. Football Budget - Yes, it absolutely matters

I don't even know where we would spend $6million a year in just football. Teddy gets $750,000. Even if we added $500,000 in our budget and made our DC the highest paid in the nation where does the rest go? Another million for the other 3 defensive coaches? 2 for the offensive coaches? We'd have...
