The attrition thing seems to hit us in really specific areas. How many B-Backs have we lost over the years to non-injury stuff? OLine over the years as well. Maybe it's just confirmation bias on my part.
  2. Head Coaching Philosophy

I don't think it would work here because of money. We really can't afford a HC and two top level coordinators. The best approach is to hire a guy as HC who is an elite offensive or defensive mind and then pay near the top for a coordinator to handle the opposite side.

Could be our S&C. Sisk got here right before the 2012 season, maybe we need new blood in that area. I've been a big proponent of player development and honestly think dropping money to recruit 4star kids is wasted when we aren't doing a good job developing the guys we get. We need to take a TCU...
  4. Clemson (Permanent Crossover Rivals)

We can't complain about lack of money and talk about dropping one of the only games that is almost always a sellout at the same time.
  5. It's officially the offseason - GT vs Stanford - Round 12

Stanford is almost a blue blood at this point. They recruit nationally and pull 5-star kids from places like Texas and Georgia. It isn't really a fair comparison. They also play in what has been a pretty terrible Pac-12 the past few years. The Pac-12 is starting to get respectable again with USC...

Groh's issue was more inflexibility than simplification. He insisted on 2-gapping our lineman when we clearly didn't have the personelle for it at the time. It's actually a good scheme that most of the Saban tree uses as well, but you really need a NT and DEs that can two gap. I've also always...
  7. Revealing Stats - Mediocre Year

Miami isn't as good as their record, I mean they almost lost to Georgia Tech.
  8. Revealing Stats - Mediocre Year

I also wonder how much of an impact playing some terrible teams had. Pitt and UNC went 3/25 on third down, but my god did those teams suck this year. By and large the offensive production of the teams we played dropped across the board with the exception of UGA which was better this year than last.

I said it before in this thread, but I really don't like doing that to recruits. You end up with kids who aren't happy here and you piss off highschool coaches who you need to keep happy to recruit. We have enough of a problem with attrition and recruiting that we don't need anything extra. I'm...
  10. Revealing Stats - Mediocre Year

Eh, reasonable at DT. We are super thin at DE. I have no idea who will be starting opposite Anree, and the backups might legitimately be freshmen next year.

Special teams were a disaster this year but have been average the past couple of years. We replaced a punter and maybe the best kicker who's ever worn a Georgia Tech jersey. I don't know if we need to overhaul the whole system, or more importantly act like it's some major black mark on Paul...
  12. Roof

He's been here 5 years, the "give him more time" argument can't possibly be used with a straight face by anyone at this point.
  13. Roof

It also should be noted that Roof was not his first choice. For all we know he is actually the best choice we had given our terrible AD if the others were a sack of potatoes. I may be completely mis-remembering this but Manny Diaz was the guy he wanted. You might know that name as the DC at...
  14. Revealing Stats - Mediocre Year

I'm not able to dig into how these stats were calculated (ie were they corrected for opposing teams usually having fewer possessions when they play us). However, I feel like fumbles are just flukey, but you definitely 'make your own luck' with picks.
  15. Roof

Ted Roof was one of the worst head coaches I think I've seen when he was at Duke. He would effectively wipe us off the CFB map in a few seasons if he was made head coach.
  16. Roof

It definitely could be, but then someone being a good recruiter is largely irrelevant. We shouldn't care that a guy like Roof brings in 4star or top ranked kids if the services we are judging them by are incorrect.
  17. Roof

I mean compared to the guys listed above them by Rivals. You've gotta start 11 guys.
  18. Roof

Honestly, our 4 star defensive guys on Rivals like Step, Kallon, and Jordan Woods have seemed to either been busts or just ok. Lots of 2 stars from that 2016 class balling out on both sides while some of the top guys have already left the program (on their own or for other reasons). We don't...
  19. Roof

I'm not a fan of schools doing that. We can be better than that.
  20. Roof

Tosh Lupoi is as dirty as they come as a recruiter, something that I don't want to have around our program. There's lots of big names that are available right now with the firing. Paul Rhodes, John Chavis, and Bob Diaco are a few that come to mind if we move on from Ted.
